This European Standard applies to Oriented Strand Boards (OSB). It defines terms, establishes a
classification and specifies requirements.
The values listed in this European Standard relate to product properties but they are not characteristic values to be used in design calculations.
NOTE   Test methods for determination of mechanical properties for structural purposes are given in EN 789.
Determination of characteristic values of mechanical properties and density for structural purposes is given in EN 1058. Design characteristic values for OSB are given in EN 12369-1.
Information on supplementary properties is given in Annex C.

This document gives a definition and a classification for particleboards.

This European Standard specifies a method of test for evaluating the bond quality of particleboards, intended for use in humid conditions according to option 2 of prEN 312-5 and prEN 312-7.

This European Standard specifies the requirements for heavy duty load-bearing boards for use in humid conditions. Note: These boards are intended for use in design and construction of load-bearing or stiffening building elements, e.g. walls, flooring, roofing and I-beams (see ENV 1995-1-1 and/or performance standards). The values listed in this standard relate to product properties but they are not characteristic values to be used in design calculation. Additional information on supplementary properties for certain applications is also given. Particleboards in accordance with this standard may be referred to as P7-boards.

Additional information on supplementary properties for certain applications is also given. Particleboards in accordance with this standard may be referred to as P3-boards. This standard does not give requirements for Oriented Strand Boards (OSB); these are set out in EN 300. This standard does not apply to extruded particleboards.

Particleboards in accordance with this standard may be referred to as P2-boards. This standard does not give requirements for Oriented Strand Boards (OSB); these are set out in EN 300. This standard does not apply to extruded particleboards.

This European Standard specifies a method of assessing the surface soundness of uncoated particleboards.
