CEN/TC 147/WG 1 - Terminology and harmonization
the work of WG 1 will fall into three categories: - Ensure that there is no overlap of the scopes of the cranes types standards - Ensure that crane type standards are based on the standards produced by WG 2 to WG 5. In the absence of an appropriate standard other EN- or ISO/IEC- standards may be used. - Ensure that definitions are not in contradiction. This will be achieved by producing two levels of definitions. o Level one; Basic definitions, which WGs and WGPs must use - these to be main definitions only, e.g. maximum working load, hoist load, rated capacity. (The chairman undertook to prepare a discussion paper for circulation to CEN/TC 147 WG 1 members.) o Level two; Definitions applicable to particular crane type.
