Defines technical terms for sealants for building purposes and applies to joints filled with hardening, plastic or elastic materials which are not preformed. Does not include all necessary technical terms on jointing products. Material properties are defined in general terms without reference to related quantitative aspects.

In defining area measurement, uses the intra-muros and extra-muros concept. The indicators defined are intended for practical use, as a basis for measuring various aspects of the performance of buildings or as a planning aid. Intended to be used when establishing 1) specifications for the geometric performance of a building and its spaces, 2) technical documentation relating to the performance of whole buildings, 3) evaluation, comparison or control of the properties of a building which are connected to its geometric performance.

Defines general terms, in English and French, applicable to building and civil engineering works. Comprises a) fundamental concepts which may be the starting point for other, more specific, definitions; b) more specific concepts used in several areas in building and that may be used commonly in standards, regulations and contracts.

Refers to sealants with predominantly elastic behaviour. The sealant to be tested adheres to two parallel contact surfaces of the test specimens. After submission of the test specimens to extension/compression cycles under defined conditions any breaks in adhesion or cohesion are recorded.

This European Prestandard specifies the classification of open areas with respect to location and access to the areas. The Prestandard gives means of crime prevention in accordance to the classification.

The principle of the method specified is preparing test specimens in which the sealant to be tested adheres to two parallel contact surfaces, compressing the test specimens to a defined value under defined conditions and recording the applied force and the resulting stress.

Specifies a method for the determination of the influence of water immersion. Describes the principle, the apparatus, the preparation of specimens, conditioning methods, the test procedure, and the contents of the test report.

Amends the last sentence of clause 4 (Principle) and deletes the last two lines of clause 9 (Test report) and replaces them by new text.

The sealants are also exposed to water or humidity, and to elevated temperature.
