Electricity, equipment, cables - their regulation at the international level

IMG_3760.JPG

Despite the fact that the world is developing at an accelerated pace and the number of applied technologies is increasing, the issue of their regulation and implementation in production processes is becoming more and more urgent. In the modern world, interaction between different states is a common phenomenon, and as a result, there is an integration and interchange of existing technologies. To reduce the distance and the possible inconsistency of certain aspects, international standards are being introduced, which in a certain way unify all systems. Today we will tell you about the main standards in the field of electrical engineering and documents regulating the use of equipment in this industry.

Optical fibre cables - Part 2-21: Indoor cables - Detailed specification for multi-fibre optical distribution cables for use in premises cabling

EN IEC 60794-2-21:2019

Wireless technologies are improving and are present even in the daily life of mankind, nevertheless, the use of cables is still popular and widespread, especially in technological fields. Since the abundance of materials from which they are made also increases, therefore, a separate international standard is created for each of them. One such document is IEC 60794-2-21: 2019.

It is available as IEC 60794-2-21:2019 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60794-2-21:2019 presents the detailed requirements specific to this type of cable to ensure compatibility with the series of International Standards ISO/IEC 11801, Information technology – Generic cabling for customer premises (Parts 1 to 6). The requirements of family specification IEC 60794-2-20 are applicable to cables covered by this document. Particular requirements detailed in Clause 4 define either a specific option in relation to the requirements of IEC 60794-2-20 or additional requirements.

This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2012. It constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: incorporation of the OM5 cabled fibre performance category; incorporation of the OS1a cabled fibre performance category; cabled fibre performance categories OM1, OM2 and OS1 are no longer normative, and are retained for information. Keywords: multi-fibre distribution cables

The description of this international document provides the technical characteristics of the equipment for which it may be applicable. In order to study more detailed details of this document, you can follow the link to the site attached above and consult with a team of specialists in the field of selection of international standards.

Optimal fibre cables - Part 2-31: Indoor cables - Detailed specification for optical fibre ribbon cables for use in premises cabling

EN IEC 60794-2-31:2019

Sometimes international standardization implies a step-by-step explanation of the implementation of certain processes or technologies. Nevertheless, certain types of documents are created in order to regulate the operation of certain types of equipment or their parts. One of them is IEC 60794-2-31: 2019.

This document is available as IEC 60794-2-31:2019 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 60794-2-31:2019 presents the detailed requirements specific to this type of cable to ensure compatibility with the series of International Standards ISO/IEC 11801, Information technology – Generic cabling for customer premises (Parts 1 to 6).

The requirements of family specification IEC 60794-2-30 are applicable to cables covered by this document. The particular requirements detailed in Clause 4 define either a specific option in relation to the requirements of IEC 60794-2-30 or additional requirements.

Since this document is the most recent version of the mentioned standard, we recommend that you always stay up to date with the latest updates in order to keep up with the times and use only the latest technologies and methods of their implementation in your business processes.

Food processing machinery - Filling machines and interchangeable equipment - Safety and hygiene requirements

EN 12463:2021

When it comes to the food industry, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the aesthetic characteristics of the final products manufactured, but also to the aspects of quality and suitability for consumption. After all, it is this area as well as each stage of production that is responsible for human health. One of the international standards governing food processing equipment is EN 12463: 2021.

This document applies to:

-   filling machines with cylinder and piston;

-   filling machines with feed intake hopper;

-   filling machines with vacuum hopper;

hereafter referred to as filling machines which process e.g. meat, cheese and other pasty substances, excluding dry or frozen materials. They pump foodstuff into casings or bring it to a following process. This document applies also to the interchangeable equipment for filling machines with which a wide range of additional functions can be implemented. For example: portioning, depositing, mincing, co-extruding, dividing and forming.

This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to filling machines and interchangeable equipment (hereafter referred to as machines), when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer and also the reasonable foreseeable misuse (see Clause 4).

These significant hazards, hazardous situations and events can arise during all the life phases including transportation, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping of the machines.

This document is not applicable to machines which were manufactured before the date of publication of this document by CEN.

This international standard, like most other technological documents, has a certain number of amendments and clarifications, which is why we recommend that you familiarize yourself with them in detail before applying it in the activities of your organization.

Textile machinery - Noise test code - Part 6: Fabric manufacturing machinery (ISO 9902-6:2018)

EN ISO 9902-6:2021

The textile industry has always been popular and is only gaining momentum, even in a post-industrial society. Nevertheless, a certain number of amendments and innovations are introduced into this area every day. As technology develops, therefore, the number of regulatory documents regulating it is increasing. One of the international standards for textile machinery is EN ISO 9902-6: 2021.

This document covers the different types of weaving and knitting machines defined in ISO 5247 (all parts)[2] and ISO 7839[3], respectively. It is applicable to:

full-width weaving machines with weft insertion by:

shuttles;

rigid, telescopic or flexible rapiers;

projectiles;

hydraulic (waterjet) or by pneumatic (airjet) nozzle;

narrow fabric weaving machines with weft insertion by shuttles or needles;

jacquard machines;

knitting machinery including:

circular knitting;

flat bed knitting;

warp knitting;

raschel;

cotton (flat weft weaving);

other fabric manufacturing machines e.g.:

multi-phase weaving machines;

circular weaving machines;

stitch bonding machines.

This standard has a clear description of the possible applications and subcategories of the mentioned industry. That is why if you operate in the textile industry, we strongly recommend that you think about purchasing this standard in order to obtain the most productive results and the possibility of expanding the boundaries of your company.

International standards are a combination of safety and successful promotion

When scaling the activities of an organization, it is necessary to take into account that an increase in production capacity or the pursuit of the goal of increasing financial results should be carried out in conjunction with the structuring of the existing system. When it comes to the introduction of innovative technologies, it is necessary to have in place such international standards that will help to carry out this process as efficiently as possible. At first glance, in the globalizing world of technology, it may seem that the regulatory framework is only a complicating factor in the development process. Nevertheless, following the recommendations specified in the documents of the ISO and CEN standards institutes will help not only enter new international markets, but also significantly reduce the amount of possible financial losses. Therefore, think about having international standards in your company structure now.
