This document specifies the terms and definitions, the test methods and the evaluation of results of watch-glasses with anti-reflective treatments. The document is applicable to sapphire watch-glasses with anti-reflective treatments, and it can also be used as a reference for mineral watch-glasses with anti-reflective treatments.

This document specifies the minimum requirements and test methods for magnetic resistant watches. This document applies to magnetic resistant watches designed to withstand daily magnetic fields. Moreover, it indicates the marking which the manufacturer is authorized to apply to them.

This document concerns whole watches, in which all or some of the components of the external parts are made of hard material, with the exception of watch glasses. It applies to all elements made in massive material whose hardness is greater than or equal to 1 200 Vickers. It describes the performance in terms of resistance to mechanical and thermal shocks, to corrosion, to scratches, to sunlight exposure and also to the wear of its components.

This document specifies the procedure for evaluating the accuracy of quartz watches, individually and by lots (see Annex A which presents the methods for statistical evaluation of accuracy by lot), and the relationship between the accuracy tested and the accuracy classification given by the manufacturer. It applies to quartz watches having accompanying documents on which the accuracy classification is indicated.

This document specifies requirements and test methods for divers' watches and for saturation divers' watches for use in deep diving (see Annex A which deals with watches for saturation diving). It applies to divers' watches designed to withstand diving in water at depths of at least 100 m and equipped with a secured measuring system to indicate the diving time, which is visible in darkness. Moreover, it indicates the marking which the manufacturer is authorized to apply to them.

ISO 16253:2017 specifies the general requirements and test methods for hard coatings obtained by vapour phase deposition processes intended to improve mainly the surface aspect and wear and corrosion resistance, and/or to offer protection against contact-allergy. It is applicable to watch-cases and accessories.

IEC 60086-3:2011(E) specifies dimensions, designation, methods of tests and requirements for primary batteries for watches. In several cases, a menu of test methods is given. When presenting battery electrical characteristics and/or performance data, the manufacturer specifies which test method was used. ISO 1413:2016 specifies the minimum requirements for shock-resistant wrist watches and describes the corresponding test method. It is based on the simulation of the shock received by a wrist watch while falling from a height of 1 m onto a horizontal wooden floor (an equivalent surface is described in B.1.1).

ISO 3764:2016 specifies the types and fitting dimensions of mechanical and electromechanical watch-movements. This International Standard is applicable to the five following types of movements: - Type 1: round; - Type 2: shaped round; - Type 3: round with double cutting; - Type 4: 5 ˝′′′; - Type 5: 6 × 8′′′.

ISO 3160-2:2015 specifies methods to determine fineness, thickness, corrosion resistance and adhesion for gold alloy coverings on watch-cases and accessories, including bracelets when they are permanently attached to the case. The tests apply only to significant surfaces. ISO 3160-2:2015 applies to all gold alloy coverings specified in ISO 3160‑1.

ISO 13074:2012 specifies the fitting dimensions of movements to hands. It is applicable to analogue quartz table and wall clock movements, with and without alarm, that have the following properties: minute wheel shafts with an outer diameter of between 1,3 mm and 3,6 mm; hour wheel, minute wheel, second wheel and alarm wheel shafts made of metal and plastic material. ISO 13074:2012 can be referenced for other types of analogue quartz clock movements.

ISO 23160:2011 specifies tests for the evaluation of the resistance of watch cases and their bracelets to wear, scratching and impacts occurring when wearing the watch. ISO 23160:2011 is applicable mainly to complete watch cases fitted with bracelets. However, certain tests can be applied to the watch case only, to the complete or partial bracelet, or to specially prepared samples.

ISO 22810:2010 establishes the requirements and specifies the test methods used to verify the water resistance of watches. Moreover, it indicates the marking which the manufacturer is authorized to apply to them.

ISO 3159:2009 lays down the definition of the term “chronometer”, describing the categories, the test programme and the acceptable minimum requirements for wrist-chronometers.

ISO 12819:2009 specifies two methods for determining the battery life of a battery-powered watch and specifies the labelling to be used by the manufacturers or the distributors to inform the users. According to the available information, either the theoretical battery life or the practical battery life must be calculated using the equations given in ISO 12819:2009.

ISO 14368-3:2003 specifies the nomenclature of defects and the test methods to check them, with minimum physical and aesthetic requirements, for circular mineral and sapphire watch-glasses.

ISO 14368-2:2002 specifies dimensional requirements of the interface for the assembly to the case by adhesive or using a gasket for round-shaped mineral and sapphire watch-glasses.

This International Standard specifies overall fixing dimensions of wristwatch-cases to which bracelets or straps are fastened by means of a set of fixing pins and tubes. This International Standard is applicable to wristwatch-cases with four or with two lugs.
