This European Standard contains co-ordinating sizes for kitchen furniture including worktops as well as for kitchen appliances, sinks and decorative panels. For convenience, in this standard the terms "furniture" and "appliance" are used for "kitchen furniture" and "kitchen appliance". This European Standard specifies co-ordinating sizes for kitchen units, worktops, recess panelling, furniture fronts and decorative panels as well as for kitchen appliances (white goods and ovens) and further installation elements, e. g. sinks (abbreviated as "appliances").
It specifies dimensions for the height, the width, the depth and the space to integrate appliances in kitchen units.
This European Standard does not apply to kitchens used commercially (e. g. in hotels, restaurants).

This European Standard specifies safety requirements for all types of kitchen and bathroom storage units and domestic storage furniture that are fully assembled and ready for use, including kitchen-worktops and movable and non-movable components and components made of glass.
It specifies additional test methods in Annex A (normative).
