This document specifies the characteristics and test methods for flue dampers that are used as components, carrying flue gas, in order to limit the flow in a chimney or to prevent back flow of soot during cleaning of the chimney or to prevent the backflow of the flue gas e.g. in case of multi-served chimneys.
This document covers only flue dampers incorporated in a housing and installed inside a building.
This document covers only flue dampers with sealings made of elastomeric materials for temperature classes up to T 200 and corrosion class 1 or 2 in accordance with EN 14241-1 or sealing materials for dry applications with a fire reaction class A1 in accordance with EN 13501-1.
This document covers only flue dampers with motor drive, casing and flue damper plate which are interlocked in such a way that they can only be separated by using tools.
This document covers only mechanical flue dampers where any motor is in accordance with EN 60730-2-14 and the cover for electrical components of the flue damper fulfils minimum protection class IP40 according to EN 60529.
This document covers only flue dampers which are designed and installed to ensure that incorrect information about the position of the flue damper flap are absolutely impossible, which are only installed on components that are interlocked to the casing, which are only activated by components that are interlocked to the flue damper flap and where it is ensured that the limit switch opens or the flue damper flap moves to the open position if one of these interlocks fails. This safety target may also be achieved with an equally suitable method (e.g. bracing or welding).
This document covers only flue dampers for biomass boilers ≥ 1 000 kW and industrial applications with limit switches in accordance with EN 61058-1 or EN 50156-1.
This document covers only flue dampers where it is possible to identify the position of the flue damper flap.
This document covers only totally closed, manually driven flue dampers (type 1) which have a facility to adjust the position of the flue damper flap.
This document covers only totally closed, mechanically driven flue dampers (type 2) with only the positions "fully opened" and "fully closed" and where it is not possible to fix the flap in the non-closed position during the flue damper flap stays in closed position while the appliance is not working.
NOTE This applies only to multi-appliance installations with positive pressure conditions.
This document covers only partially closed flue dampers (type 3 to 5) where it is possible to adjust the position of the flue damper flap and where it is ensured that the flue damper flap does not change position by itself.
Flue dampers which are integral parts of system chimney products or other chimney components, e.g. flue liners, connecting flue pipes, are not covered by this document.
This document also specifies the provisions for marking, manufacturers’ instruction, product information, Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP).
This document does not specify issues for electrical parts.

This document specifies the requirements and test methods for access components comprising a frame and a door or doors which provide access to the flue of a chimney for the purpose of inspection or cleaning.
Access components for higher nominal working temperature than 450 °C, positive pressure and wet applications are not covered by this standard.
The document is limited to access components with door opening dimensions with a maximum width of 450 mm and a maximum height of 600 mm.
Products not freely ventilated are excluded from this document.
This document also specifies the requirements for marking, manufacturers’ instruction, product information and information on the AVCP (Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance).
Access components already tested together with system chimney products or other chimney components, e.g. flue liners, are not covered by this document.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for rain caps that are used as components, subject to flue gas, in order to prevent rain entry into the chimneys. Rain caps already tested together with system chimney products or other chimney components, e.g. terminals, are not covered by this standard. Rain caps incorporating a bird guard are also included. It also specifies the requirements for marking, manufacturers’ instruction, product information and evaluation of conformity.

This document specifies requirements and the basic performance criteria for chimneys, flue liners, connecting flue pipes, components and accessories used to convey the products of combustion from combustion appliances to the outside atmosphere. This document is to be used as a reference for all product standards of CEN/TC 166.
This document specifies sootfire resistant chimneys, flue liners, connecting flue pipes, fittings and accessories for combustion appliances burning solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and non-sootfire resistant chimneys, flue liners, connecting flue pipes, components and accessories for combustion appliances burning liquid and gaseous fuels only. It also specifies sootfire safe accessories for combustion appliances burning solid, liquid and gaseous fuels.
NOTE 1 This means that chimneys, flue liners, connecting flue pipes and components which are non-sootfire resistant and accessories which are non-sootfire resistant or non-sootfire safe are not suitable for combustion appliances burning solid fuel.
This document also identifies minimum requirements for marking, instructions, product information and provides guidance for the assessment and verification of constancy of performance (AVCP).
This document does not apply to structurally independent chimneys and custom-built chimneys consisting of non-CE-marked components.
NOTE 2 This document can be used as a basis for the specifications of products covered by a European Technical Assessment.
NOTE 3 All product standards drafted by Technical Committee CEN/TC 166 are based on the Mandate M/105.

This part of EN 13384 specifies methods for calculation of the thermal and fluid dynamic characteristics of chimneys serving more than one heating appliance.
This part of EN 13384 covers both the cases, either
a) where the chimney is connected with more than one connecting flue pipe from individual or several appliances in a multi-inlet arrangement; or
b) where the chimney is connected with an individual connecting flue pipe connecting more than one appliance in a cascade arrangement.
The case of multiple inlet cascade arrangement is covered by the case a).
This part of EN 13384 deals with chimneys operating under negative pressure conditions (there can be positive pressure condition in the connecting flue pipe) and with chimneys operating under positive pressure conditions and is valid for chimneys serving heating appliances for liquid, gaseous and solid fuels.
This part of EN 13384 does not apply to:
- chimneys with different thermal resistance or different cross-section in the various chimney segments. This part does not apply to calculate energy gain;
- chimneys with open fire places, e.g. open fire chimneys or chimney inlets which are normally intended to operate open to the room;
- chimneys which serve different kinds of heating appliances regarding natural draught, fan assisted, forced draught or combustion engine. Fan assisted appliances with draught diverter between the fan and the chimney are considered as natural draught appliances;
- chimneys with multiple inlets from more than 5 storeys. (This does not apply to balanced flue chimney.);
- chimneys serving heating appliances with open air supply through ventilation openings or air ducts, which are not installed in the same air supply pressure region (e.g. same side of building).
For positive pressure chimneys this part only applies if any heating appliance which is out of action can be positively isolated to prevent flue gas back flow.

This European Standard specifies methods for the calculation of the thermal and fluid dynamic characteristics of chimneys serving one heating appliance.
The methods in this part of this European Standard are applicable to negative or positive pressure chimneys with wet or dry operating conditions. It is valid for chimneys with heating appliances for fuels subject to the knowledge of the flue gas characteristics which are needed for the calculation.
The methods in this part of this European Standard are applicable to chimneys with one inlet connected with one appliance. The methods in Part 2 of this European Standard are applicable to chimneys with multiple inlets and one inlet with multiple appliances. Part 3 describes methods for the development of diagrams and tables for chimneys serving one heating appliance.
