FprEN 13139
(Main)Aggregates for mortar
Aggregates for mortar
This document specifies the characteristics of aggregates and filler aggregates obtained by processing natural, manufactured or recycled materials and mixtures of these aggregates for use in mortars, renders and screeds, e.g. masonry mortar, floor/screed mortar, surfacing of internal walls (plastering mortar), rendering of external walls, special bedding materials, repair mortar and grouts for buildings, roads and civil engineering works.
It covers aggregates having an oven dried particle density greater than 2,00 Mg/m3. It also covers recycled and manufactured aggregate with particle densities greater than 1,50 Mg/m3.
NOTE 1 Assessment of the density of recycled aggregates is typically carried out on coarse fractions.
NOTE 2 Lightweight aggregates are specified in EN 13055.
Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVCP) of aggregates to this document are given in EN 16236.
Aggregates used in construction are meant to comply with all the relevant European standards for aggregates. These standards include comprehensive and specific provisions for natural aggregates, manufactured aggregates and recycled aggregates, dealing with, for example, the volume stability and loss of ignition of certain manufactured aggregates (slag, fly ash).
