Optical fibres - Part 2: Product specifications - General
Contains the general requirements for both multimode and single mode optical fibres. Sectional specifications for each of the four multimode categories: A1, A2, A3, and A4 contain requirements specific to each category. The requirements of this standard apply to all categories. Each sectional specification contains the requirements that are common to all family specifications that are within it. Tests or measurement methods are defined for each specific attribute.

Contient les spécifications générales applicables à la fois aux fibres optiques unimodales et multimodales. Les spécifications intermédiaires pour chacune des quatre catégories multimodales: A1, A2, A3 et A4 contiennent des prescriptions spécifiques à chaque catégorie. Chaque spécification intermédiaire contient les prescriptions qui sont communes à toutes les spécifications de famille qu'elle regroupe. Les essais ou les méthodes de mesure sont définis pour chaque attribut spécifié.

This European Standard was approved by CENELEC on 2004-02-01. CENELEC members are bound to

Foreword
The text of document 86A/873/FDIS, future edition 5 of IEC 60793-2, prepared by SC 86A, Fibres and
cables, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved
by CENELEC as EN 60793-2 on 2004-02-01.
This European Standard should be read in conjunction with EN 60793-1-1 and its related documents.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2004-11-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2007-02-01
EN 60793-2 consists of the following parts, under the general title: Optical fibres:
- Part 2-10: Product specifications - Sectional specification for category A1 multimode fibres
- Part 2-20: Product specifications - Sectional specification for category A2 multimode fibres
- Part 2-30: Product specifications - Sectional specification for category A3 multimode fibres
- Part 2-40: Product specifications - Sectional specification for category A4 multimode fibres
- Part 2-50: Product specifications - Sectional specification for class B single-mode fibres
Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.
