IEC 61300-3-34:2009(E) describes the procedure required to measure the statistical distribution and mean attenuation for random mated optical connectors. Changes from the previous edition of the document are to reconsider launch conditions for multimode fibres.

IEC 61300-3-34: 2009 décrit la procédure exigée pour mesurer la distribution statistique et l’affaiblissement moyen pour les connecteurs optiques accouplés sans choix préalable. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition parue en 2001, dont elle constitue une révision technique. Les modifications par rapport à l’édition précédente du document visent à reconsidérer les conditions d’injection des fibres multimodales. La présente version bilingue (2020-09) correspond à la version anglaise monolingue publiée en 2009-01.

Foreword
The text of document 86B/2767/FDIS, future edition 3 of IEC 61300-3-34, prepared by SC 86B, Fibre
optic interconnecting devices and passive components, of IEC TC 86, Fibre optics, was submitted to the
IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 61300-2-34 on 2009-02-01.
This European Standard supersedes EN 61300-3-34:2002.
Changes from EN 61300-3-34:2002 are to reconsider launch conditions for multimode fibres.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2009-11-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2010-02-01
Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.
