Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards institutes (IS0 member bodies). The work of developing Inter-
national Standards is carried out through IS0 technical committees. Every member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been set up has the
right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental
and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council.
International Standard IS0 5749 was developed by Technical Committee ISO/TC 29,
Small tools, and was circulated to the member bodies in April 1979.

1 Scope and field of application
This International Standard lays down the principal dimensions of diagonal cutting nippers and specifies the test values for the pliers
in order to verify their aptitude to function in conformity with IS0 5744. General technical requirements are given in IS0 5743.
The figures in this International Standard are only examples and are not intended to affect the manufacturer’s design,

L'ISO (organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale
d'organismes nationaux de normalisation (comités membres de I'ISO). L'élaboration

La présente Norme internationale fixe les dimensions principales des pinces coupantes diagonales et spécifie les valeurs d’essai en vue
de vérifier leur aptitude fonctionnelle, conformément à IWO 5744. Les spécifications techniques générales sont données dans
I’ISO 5743.
Les figures illustrant la présente Norme internationale ne sont données qu‘à titre d’exemples. Elles ne doivent en rien influencer la
conception.
