BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 357, Expression of the Power and Intensity Levels of Sound or
Noise, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 43, Acoustics, the Secretariat of which is
held by the British Standards Institution (B.S.I.).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1960 and led, in 1961, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In March 1962, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 504) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved by the following Member Bodies:

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 357, Expression du niveau de puissance et du niveau d’intensité
d’un son ou d’un bruit, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 43, Acoustique, dont le
Secrétariat est assuré par la British Standards Institution (B.S.I.).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique en 1960 et
aboutirent en 1961 à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En mars 1962, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 504) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de 1’ISO. I1 fut approuvé par les Comités Membres suivants:
