This part of IEC 61937 specifies the method for the digital audio interface specified in IEC 60958 to convey non-linear PCM bitstreams encoded in accordance with the ATRAC, ATRAC2/3 and ATRAC-X formats.

La CEI 61937-7:2004 spécifie la méthode pour l'interface audionumérique spécifiée dans la CEI 60958 pour acheminer des flux de bits MIC non linéaire codés selon les formats ATRAC, ATRAC2/3 et ATRAC-X. La présente deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition parue en 2002. Cette édition constitue une révision technique. Elle contient les importantes modifications techniques suivantes: Dans cette édition, un nouveau type de données audio au format ATRAC-X est ajouté au aux formats ATRAC et ATRAC2/3. Les caractéristiques particulières, telles que les points de référence, la période de répétition, la méthode pour combler les intervalles entre flux et le temps de latence du décodage, sont spécifiées pour le type de données ATRAC-X.

Foreword
The text of the International Standard IEC 61937-7:2004, prepared by Technical Area 4, Digital
interfaces and protocols, of IEC TC 100, Audio, video and multimedia systems and equipment , was
submitted to the formal vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 61937-7 on 2005-07-01 without
any modification.
This European Standard supersedes EN 61937-7:2002.
It includes the following significant technical changes with respect to EN 61937-7:2002:
a) a new audio data-type "ATRAC-X" is added to ATRAC and ATRAC2/3;
b) specific properties such as reference points, repetition period, the method of filling stream gaps,
and decoding latency are specified for the data-type ATRAC-X.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2006-07-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the EN have to be withdrawn (dow) 2008-07-01

Annex ZA has been added by CENELEC.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
