Methods of testing cement - Part 1: Determination of strength
This European standard describes a method of determining the compressive and flexural strengths of cement mortar. This standard describes the reference procedure; it allows the use of alternative procedures only in well defined cases provided that they do not affect the results significantly as specified in clause 11. In the event of a dispute, only the reference procedure described in this standard shall be used, excluding any alternatives. The method applies to the cement types defined in ENV 197-1. It may not be applicable to other cement types, for instance on account of their initial setting time.

Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Biegezug- u und Druckfestigkeit von Zementmörtel. Diese Norm beschreibt das Referenzverfahren; andere Verfahren dürfen nur in genau festgelegten Fällen angewendet werden, wenn sie - wie in Abschnitt 11 beschrieben - die Ergebnisse nicht signifikant beeinflussen. Im Streitfall ist das in dieser Norm beschriebene Referenzverfahren und kein anderes, davon abweichendes Verfahren massgebend. Das Verfahren ist für die in ENV 197-1 definierte Zementareten anwendbar. Es ist möglicherweise für andere Zementarten nicht anwendbar.

La présente norme européenne décrit une méthode de détermination des résistances a la compression et a la flexion d'un mortier de ciment. Cette norme décrit le mode opératoire de référence; l'utilisation de variantes n'est autorisée que dans des cas bien définis a condition qu'elles ne modifient pas de façon significative les résultats obtenus conformément aux prescriptions du chapitre 11. En cas de litige, seul le mode opératoire de référence décrit dans la présente norme, a l'exclusion de toute variante, doit etre utilisé. La méthode est applicalbe aux catégories de ciment définies dans la norme ENV 197-1.
