Liquid metal, unalloyed and alloyed ingots
Standardisation of the rules of writing the designation of aluminium and aluminium alloys. Composition iof liquid metal, alloyed and unalloyed ingots, master alloys.
General Information
This EN specifies the requirements for grades of refined aluminium and other unalloyed aluminium in the form of ingots for remelting. It specifies the designations for these grades, the conditions in which they are produced, their properties and the marks by which they are identified.

This part of prEN 1780 specifies the writing rules for chemical composition of unalloyed aluminium, aluminium alloys and master alloys. Writing rules for unalloyed aluminium are specified in prEN 576. It applies to lingots for remelting and to castings. The five-figure numerical and the chemical symbol based designation systems of materials are specified in prEN 1780-1 and prEN 1780-2, respectively.
