Les responsabilités du Comité permanent du Conseil sur la stratégie et la politique sont les suivantes : Surveiller les tendances actuelles et les questions émergentes ayant une incidence sur l'élaboration et la mise en application des Normes internationales et recommander des mesures au Conseil concernant de nouveaux domaines de normalisation Coordonner le processus d’élaboration de la stratégie de l’ISO et mettre au point le projet de Plan stratégique pour l’ISO à soumettre au Conseil pour examen et approbation en vue de sa soumission à l’Assemblée générale, Coordonner l’élaboration du plan de mise en œuvre de la stratégie de l’ISO, suivre les progrès accomplis et évaluer les résultats obtenus, faire rapport régulièrement au Conseil, Coordonner le développement, la tenue à jour et le suivi des politiques de l’ISO – à l’exception des politiques concernant les domaines couverts par d’autres organes faisant rapport au Conseil – et recommander des mesures au Conseil chaque fois que nécessaire.
