ISO/TC 96/SC 4 - Test methods

ISO 4310:2009 specifies tests, inspections and procedures for verifying the conformance of a crane with its operational specifications and capability to lift rated loads (see ISO 7363). ISO 4310:2009 is applicable to the types of cranes designated in ISO 4306-1, prior to first use following manufacture or after modification or repair of the load‑bearing structure or a component of an individual crane. Where rated loads are governed by stability, a test procedure and test load are specified that permit stability margins to be easily verified.

ISO 14518:2005 establishes a) methods for composition and measurement of test loads; b) procedures for the application of test loads during the testing of cranes. ISO 14518:2005 was developed in addition to ISO 4310 and covers the types of cranes described in ISO 4306-1.

ISO 11629:2004 sets forth basic procedures for measuring the mass of a cranes as a whole and/or of its components. ISO 11629:2004 was prepared in addition to ISO 4310 and covers the types of cranes as defined in ISO 4306-1.

ISO 13202:2003 establishes guidelines for the measurement of the velocity and time parameters of cranes as defined in ISO 7363. ISO 13202:2003 is complementary to ISO 4310 and covers the types of crane specified therein.

Specifies the principal requirements for instruments and measurement systems of test loads, distances, time and other relevant parameters. Gives recommended limit values of relative errors in measurement during testing.

Specifies the tests and procedures to be followed in order to verify that a crane conforms to its operational specifications and is capable of lifting rated loads. Where rated loads are determined by stability, a test procedure and test load are specified that permit stability margins to be easily verified. Defines test procedures such as conformity tests, visual inspection and load lifting competence testing.
