ASTM F467-08
(Specification)Standard Specification for Nonferrous Nuts for General Use
Standard Specification for Nonferrous Nuts for General Use
ABSTRACT
This specification covers the chemical, mechanical, dimensional, and workmanship and finish requirements, and the corresponding test methods for commercial wrought nonferrous nuts in a variety of alloys in common use that are intended for general service applications. When tested, the nuts shall meet required values for hardness, proof stress, and tensile stress areas.
SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
For purposes of determining compliance with the specified limits for requirements of the properties listed in this specification, an observed value or calculated value shall be rounded in accordance with Practice E 29.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the requirements for commercial wrought nonferrous nuts 0.250 to 1.500 in. inclusive in diameter in a number of alloys in common use and intended for general service applications.
1.2 Applicable bolts, cap screws, and studs for use with nuts covered by this specification are covered by Specification F 468.
1.3 This specification is the inch-pound companion to Specification F 467M; therefore, no SI equivalents are presented in the specification.
