ABSTRACT
This specification establishes requirements for safety signage and labels for fitness equipment and fitness facilities. Product safety signs and labels shall be classified according to the relative seriousness of the potential hazards. The classifications shall be noted by the signal words danger, warning and caution. Fitness facility signs are classified as general safety signs and shall use signal words such as safety first, be careful and think. The label design for fitness equipment and fitness facility safety sign design are presented in details.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes requirements for safety signage and labels for fitness equipment as defined in 3.1.3 and fitness facilities as defined in 3.1.4. It provides for the design, placement, and minimum wording required.  
1.2 It is the intent of this specification to set guidelines for warnings and signage to be placed on fitness equipment and in fitness facilities where the intended users are 13 years old and older.

INTRODUCTION
This specification sets forth guidelines for signage and labels associated with fitness equipment and
fitness facilities. Its goal is to help alert and remind users of safe practices in utilizing fitness
equipment. Like any other physical activity, exercise involving fitness equipment presents a potential
for injury. No label or sign alone can prevent all injuries, especially when fitness equipment is used
improperly. The ultimate responsibility for preventing injury lies with the equipment owner or
equipment user, or both. This specification, however, intends to promote proper fitness equipment
practices through standardization of signage and label requirements.

ABSTRACT
This specification establishes parameters for the design and manufacture of fitness equipment intended for use by individuals age 12 and above. Standard Specification for Eye and Face Protective Equipment for Hockey Players

SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers performance requirements and test methods for face protectors marketed, sold, and intended for ice hockey.  
1.2 The intent of this specification is to reduce the risk of injury to the face without compromising the form or appeal of the game. To do so, the face protector shall be used:  
1.2.1 As intended within the rules of the game and  
1.2.2 In accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.  
1.3 Ice hockey is a sport with intrinsic hazards associated with the normal conduct of the game. Participation in ice hockey implies the acceptance of some risk of injury. Use of a face protector certified to this specification will not prevent all injuries.

Standard Specification for Competition Wrestling Mats

ABSTRACT
This specification establishes the physical and performance requirements for qualifying construction designs of competition wrestling mats used in U.S. collegiate or high school style (Type I), and international free style (Type II) wrestling. All mat constructions are included here, except for felt-core mats enclosed in sewn covers. The mats shall be tested and conform accordingly to tensile strength, shock absorption, and thickness requirements.
SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 The mats shall be constructed to yield the values listed in Table 1 throughout the mat area under the conditions of the manufacturer's warranty.  
5.2 Special requirements for the mats shall be subject to purchase agreements. Special requirements shall never reduce any of the basic requirements listed in this standard.  
5.3 Good manufacturing practices shall be used in the construction and inspection of the mats.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers competition wrestling mats used at the high school and college levels. All mat constructions are included, except felt-core mats enclosed in sewn covers. The intended use of this standard is for the qualification of construction designs.  
Note 1: The known constructions, as of the issuance of this specification are: (1) closed-cell foam cores with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or PVC copolymer coatings, or both, which are integral parts of the mat; (2) closed-cell foam cores with attached fabric cover; (3) foam cores, either open- or closed-cell enclosed in sewn, loose covers, and (4) molded open-cell PVC foam with a dense skin on one surface which is an integral part of the mat.
Note 2: There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.  
1.2 This specification covers mats used in the two major styles of wrestling: U.S. collegiate or high school, and international free style.

Standard Specification for Stationary Upright and Recumbent Exercise Bicycles and Upper and Total Body Ergometers

ABSTRACT
This safety specification provides the safety design features and reasonable safety standards intended to reduce the demonstrated hazards associated with the use (including storage, movement, entry, use, and exit from the product) of stationary exercise bicycles assembled in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for safe use. This standard is limited to exercise bicycles of the following classes: Class A, non-free-wheeling exercise bicycles with a directly driven flywheel; Class B, free-wheeling exercise bicycles; Class C, ergometer bicycles or those bicycles used to precisely measure work; and Class D, units designed to convert road bicycles to stationary exercise bicycles. Device stability, exterior design, overheating performance, inertia, and design characteristics of the individual parts such as the frame and seat post retention assembly, seat post and seat, handlebars, and pedals shall be tested as indicated herein, and should comply accordingly with the acceptance criteria specified for each the said requirements. Guidelines are also specified for appropriate documentation practices for the owner's/user's manual, assembly instructions, operational instructions, maintenance instructions, installation instructions, user weight restrictions, warnings/warning labels, and other product markings.

ABSTRACT
This specification establishes parameters for the design and manufacture of elliptical training equipment for use in an indoor environment or setting. It specifies fitness products for use only by an individual age 13 or older and is to be used in conjunction with Specification F2276 and Test Methods F2811. The goal of this specification is to promote proper design and manufacturing practices for elliptical training equipment so that the possibility of injury can be minimized when these products are used in accordance with the operational instructions. Equipment types covered by this specification are elliptical trainer with fixed handlebars (Type 1), elliptical trainer with moveable handlebars (Type 2), and elliptical trainer with moveable and fixed handlebars (Type 3). SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes parameters for the design and manufacture of externally loaded strength training equipment, strength training benches and external weight storage equipment as defined in 3.1.  
1.2 It is intended that these fitness products be used in an indoor setting or environment.  
1.3 It is the intent of this standard to specify fitness products for use only by an individual age 13 and older.  
1.4 This standard is to be used in conjunction with Specification F2276, Test Methods F2571, and Test Methods F3104.  
1.5 This standard takes precedence over Specification F2276 and Test Methods F2571 in areas that are specific to Externally Loaded Strength Training Equipment, Strength Training Benches and External Weight Storage Equipment.

Standard Test Methods for Evaluating Design and Performance Characteristics of Fitness Equipment

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
4.1 The purpose of these tests are to provide valid and repeatable methods for the evaluation of fitness equipment assembled and maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Use of these test methods in conjunction with Specification F2276 is intended to maximize the reliability of fitness equipment design and reduce the risk of serious injury resulting from design deficiencies.
SCOPE
1.1 These test methods specify procedures and apparatus used for testing and evaluating fitness equipment for compliance to Specification F2276. Both design and operational parameters will be evaluated. Where possible and applicable, accepted test methods from other recognized bodies will be used and referenced.  
1.2 It is the intent of this standard to specify test methods for fitness products for use by individuals age 13 and above.
