SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 The Primary Function of a Tennis Court Perimeter Enclosure is to keep tennis balls in and uninvited traffic out. It also serves as a barrier to prevent players from colliding with fixed objects and spectators. It prevents players from running onto irregular or slippery surfaces or into dangerous adjacent areas. Enclosures need to respond to secondary functional requirements, including; spectator viewing, screening the court from wind and visual distractions outside the court, and be as open and welcoming as security considerations permit. Tennis courts were once surrounded by a 10 ft (3050 mm) to 12 ft (3660 mm) high fence. In cases where security or dangerous adjacent conditions are an issue, this type of enclosure is still popular, but in most cases, tennis fences are a variety of heights and can accommodate lights, shade shelters, gates for players and maintenance, and can have completely open portions of the perimeter that lead to decks, grandstands or landscaping.
5.2 The Intended Use of This Guide is to identify the specific functions and qualities desired of a tennis enclosure and offer recommendations on how to achieve them with a chain link fence, or other enclosure, for different type of tennis courts. Although this standard is focused on chain link fencing that makes up the majority of tennis enclosures, many of the recommendations are applicable to other traditional and new fencing options for tennis court enclosures that are available on the market. This Standard is intended primarily to guide those responsible for, or concerned with, the layout and design of perimeter enclosures for both private and public tennis courts, and where other standards may not apply.
SCOPE
1.1 This guide provides design recommendations that promote quality construction and aim to reduced maintenance of tennis court enclosures. This guide informs those interested in the design, layout and maintenance of tennis court fencing on the many details and features of such enclosures. This standard describes various types of fence fabric and framework material that are available and refers to other useful resource material for designing better-quality tennis court enclosures.
1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 The results of this method quantify the impact attenuation of playing surface and system specimens under the specific test conditions, either within a laboratory or the location the surface system is installed for use.
5.2 The test method measures the outcome of impacts performed under specific conditions. It does not quantify the intrinsic material properties of the tested specimens.
5.3 Test results from different specimens obtained under the same conditions (that is, the same missile mass and geometry, drop height, etc.) are used to compare impact attenuation under those conditions.
5.4 Test results obtained under different conditions are not comparable. Specifically obtained with different missiles are not equivalent and cannot be directly compared. Similarly, test results obtained using the same missile, but using different drop heights, are not directly comparable.
SCOPE
1.1 This test method measures the impact attenuation of surface systems and materials, specifically the peak impact acceleration (“impact shock”) and calculates the Head Injury Criteria produced under prescribed impact conditions.
1.2 This test method is applicable to surface systems intended to provide impact attenuation, made of naturally occurring or synthetic materials.
1.3 This test method is applicable to impact attenuating mats and padding used in sports facilities, including, but not limited to: stadium wall padding, gymnastic mats, wrestling mats, turf playing systems, pole vault landing systems, and playground protective surfacing.
1.4 This test method is used to measure the impact attenuation of materials and components used as protective padding on trampoline frames, goal posts, etc., provided the material or component can be tested separately from the equipment to which it is attached.
1.5 Without modifications, this test method shall not be used to test materials and components that are attached to structures or equipment or finished products, unless the impact attenuation of the whole system is of interest.
1.6 While it is widely believed that lower values for impact attenuation can reduce the severity of impact-related injuries, the relationships between the results of this test method and specific injury risk are within automotive testing data.
1.7 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
1.8 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.9 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 Currently methods of infill sampling procedures differ from vendor to vendor and from technical agent to technical agent. Providing a uniform procedure for sampling, which allows for a consistent vertical sample, will allow for more consistent and accurate evaluation/measurement in the laboratory of samples taken in the field.
5.2 The Sampling Program and associated Sample Area Site Plan (Map) shall take into account the specific purpose or purposes of the testing and determine appropriate sample areas based on needs and field conditions. A partial list of possible purposes include:
5.2.1 General overall field evaluation of the infill material density, overall application rate, total quantities, and infill variation across the field area.
5.2.2 Infill component composition and variation/uniformity as it relates to infill material weights and ratios. This can identify inconsistencies in construction techniques and quality control.
5.2.3 Infill material evaluation for injury related surface assessment.
5.2.4 Infill material end of life and potential reuse assessment.
5.2.5 Field area contamination assessment.
5.3 Laboratory testing that may be performed on obtained samples include but are not limited to:
5.3.1 Test Method C136.
5.3.2 Test Method D5644.
5.3.3 Test Method F1632.
SCOPE
1.1 This test method provides a consistent sampling procedure for obtaining infill samples of synthetic turf infill materials in the field.
1.2 Operational considerations include:
1.2.1 This method requires that attic stock infill materials or infill materials from areas that are out-of-play be available for refilling holes left by the sampling procedure. Replacement of infill materials shall match the composition of the material removed.
1.2.2 Using this method to determine the in-situ weight and density will result in unreliable data due to the inclusion of moisture within the infill materials. Proper laboratory procedure including wet weight, dry weight before separation, and component weight after separation ensure no loss, and reliable data.
1.3 Evaluation and analysis of the samples in the field and or laboratory are not covered herein.
1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 This test method can be used to quantify and compare the insulation provided by sleeping bags or sleeping bag systems. It can be used for material and design evaluations.
5.2 The measurement of the insulation provided by clothing (see Test Method F1291, ISO 15831) and sleeping bags (ISO 23537) is complex and dependent on the apparatus and techniques used. It is not practical in a test method of this scope to establish details sufficient to cover all contingencies. It is feasible that departures from the instructions in this test method will lead to significantly different test results. Technical knowledge concerning the theory of heat transfer, temperature and air motion measurement, and testing practices is needed to evaluate which departures from the instructions given in this test method are significant. Standardization of the method reduces, but does not eliminate, the need for such technical knowledge. Any departures need to be reported with the results.
SCOPE
1.1 This test method covers determination of the insulation value of a sleeping bag or sleeping bag system. It measures the resistance to dry heat transfer from a constant skin temperature manikin to a relatively cold environment. This is a static test that generates reproducible results, but the manikin cannot simulate real life sleeping conditions relating to some human and environmental factors, examples of which are listed in the introduction.
1.2 The insulation values obtained apply only to the sleeping bag or sleeping bag system, as tested, and for the specified thermal and environmental conditions of each test, particularly with respect to air movement past the manikin.
1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers performance requirements for headgear used in soccer which are intended to reduce the forces reaching the impact area of the head. However, this specification does not address any injury that may rise from any type of impact that may occur during the play of soccer as the tests covered by this specification are laboratory simulation tests only and do not attempt in any way to recreate actual situations. Materials covered by this specification are test headforms consisting of Hybrid III adult male head and neck assembly and three types of anvils: steel post, headform, and molecular elastomer programmer (MEP). The headgear shall be conditioned in ambient, low temperature, high temperature, and water immersion conditions prior to shock attenuation impact and multiple impact tests. The tests shall involve three types of impact: head to forehead, head to goal post, and head to MEP impacts, and shall conform to the requirements specified.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification defines performance requirements for headgear used for participation in the sport of soccer. The technical requirements in this specification do not address the administrative requirements of soccer governing bodies, so it should not be assumed that any headgear satisfying this specification will be acceptable for use in sanctioned soccer events.
1.2 This specification is intended to reduce the forces from external physical sources reaching the defined impact area of the head in impacts that may occur in the sport of soccer. No headgear can provide protection against all impacts, foreseeable or not. This specification does not address the potential for injury from any type of impact. The tests specified in this specification are laboratory simulation tests only, and do not purport to create situations identical to the impacts that may occur during the playing of soccer.

ABSTRACT
This specification specifies impact attenuation performance requirements for playground surfaces and surfacing materials and provides a means of determining impact attenuation performance using a test method that simulates the impact of a child’s head with the surface. The test method quantifies impact in terms of g-max and Head Injury Criterion (HIC) scores. G-max is the measure of the maximum acceleration (shock) produced by an impact. The Head Injury Criterion or HIC score is an empirical measure of impact severity based on published research describing the relationship between the magnitude and duration of impact accelerations and the risk of head trauma..Two test methods shall be used to determine the impact attenuation of a playground surface or surfacing materials: critical fall height test, and installed surface performance test. The following apparatus shall be required for implementation of the two test methods: temperature measuring device, impact test system, acceleration measurement system, drop height measurement system, and battery-operated equipment.
SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
6.1 The purpose of this specification is to establish minimum impact attenuation requirements for playground surfacing materials in order to reduce the risk of severe head injury from falls.
6.2 This specification provides a uniform means of quantifying the impact attenuation performance of playground surfacing materials and is appropriately used to compare the relative performance of different playground surfacing materials.
6.3 This specification is to be used as a reference for specifying the impact attenuation performance of playground surfacing materials.
6.4 In combination with data relating impact test scores to head injury, the information generated by application of this specification is suitable to estimate the relative risk of a severe head injury due to a fall.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes minimum performance requirements for the impact attenuation of playground surfacing materials installed within the use zone of playground equipment.
1.2 This specification is specific to surfacing used in conjunction with playground equipment, such as that described in Specifications F1148, F1487, F1918, CSAZ614 (Canada), and SS457 (Singapore).
1.3 This specification establishes an impact attenuation performance criterion for playground surfacing materials; expressed as a critical fall height.
1.4 This specification establishes procedures for determining the critical fall height of playground surfacing materials under laboratory conditions. The laboratory test is mandatory for surfaces to conform to the requirements of this specification.
1.5 The laboratory test required by this specification addresses the performance of dry surfacing materials.
1.6 This specification also provides optional procedures to determine the critical fall height under wet or frozen test conditions, or both.
1.7 The critical fall height of a playground surfacing material determined under laboratory conditions does not account for important factors that have the potential to influence the actual performance of installed surfacing materials. Factors that are known to affect surfacing material performance include but are not limited to aging, moisture, maintenance, exposure to temperature extremes (for example, freezing), exposure to ultraviolet light, contamination with other materials, compaction, loss of thickness, shrinkage, submersion in water, and so forth.
1.8 The impact attenuation specification and test methods established in this specification are specific to the risk of head injury. There is only limited evidence that conformance with the requirements of this specification reduces the risk of other kinds of serious injury (for example, long bone fractures).
Note 1: The relative risk of fatality and of different degrees of head injury may be estimated using the information in Appendix X1, which...

ABSTRACT
This specification covers performance requirements and corresponding test methods for protective headgear used in women's lacrosse (excluding goalkeepers). It addresses forces of some of the incidental stick and ball to headgear impacts to non-goaltending field players that may occur while engaging in women's lacrosse.
Included in this specification are the classification of women's lacrosse headgear (adult and youth); materials construction; apparatus used for testing; calibration of instrumentation used in testing; samples for testing; conditioning requirements; projectile requirements; and product marking. Headgear shall undergo and pass shock absorption, ball impact absorption, and deformation tests.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification defines performance requirements for headgear to be used by field player’s participating in the sport of women’s lacrosse. The technical requirements in this specification do not address the administrative requirements of lacrosse governing bodies, so it should not be assumed that any headgear satisfying this specification will be acceptable for use in sanctioned lacrosse events.
1.2 The purpose of this specification is to provide reliable and repeatable test methods for the evaluation of protective headgear for women’s adult and youth lacrosse training and play. When designated optional equipment by lacrosse governing bodies, it is important that it not increase the risk of injury to players who choose not to wear it. Impacts from stick, ball, other player, ground, or other objects may be decreased in severity by use of this headgear. However, the relationship between impact and injury is not fully understood.
1.3 No headgear can provide protection against all impacts, foreseeable or not. This specification does not address the potential for injury from any type of impact.
1.4 All testing and requirements of this specification shall be in accordance with Test Methods F1446 and Specification F3077, except where noted in this specification. If there is a conflict between this standard and Test Methods F1446 and Specification F3077, this standard shall control.
1.5 Partial compliance with this standard is prohibited.
1.6 The values stated in SI (International System of Units) units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. Metric units of measurement in this specification are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI). If a value for measurement as given in this specification is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. A given equivalent value may be approximate.
1.7 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.8 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 The static compression-displacement of a baseball or softball is a mechanical property which can correlate to dynamic properties.
5.2 This test method is suitable for obtaining data in research and development, quality control, and classifying balls by the compression-displacement.
5.3 Sports associations can use compression-displacement standards in specifications for official baseballs and softballs standards in specifications for official baseballs and softballs for purposes of consistency of performance.
5.4 This same test procedure can be utilized with other compressive forces and the specified force is not necessarily the same as experienced in actual use.
SCOPE
1.1 This test method describes a comparative measurement method for baseballs and softballs as defined by a static compression displacement test.
1.2 This test method is based on a slow rate force-displacement measurement.

Included in this specification are performance requirements and test methods for LVP markers as well as the minimum warnings and instructions that need to be provided in literature, on labels, on packaging, and on the marker itself. The LVP markers shall be manufactured to operate only in semi-automatic or pump mode and with exposed edges that shall be smooth and free of sharp edges and burrs. LVP markers shall be provided with a disabling device which shall keep it from firing and with a provision against accidental discharge. The markers shall undergo tests for disabling device, accidental discharge, barrel blocking device, and impact, and shall conform to the requirements specified.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers low velocity projectile markers (herein referred to as LVP marker) that propel a low velocity resilient material projectile (herein referred to as LVRM projectile as defined in Specification F2573) by means of energy released by compressed air, compressed gas, or a combination thereof, with velocity not to exceed 53.34 m/s (175 ft/s).
1.2 LVRM projectiles are made of a resilient material and have a diameter no smaller than 20 mm (0.7874 in.) and no greater than 30 mm (1.18 in.). The hardness of the LVRM projectile is to be no greater than 75 Shore 00. The weight of the LVRM projectile is not to exceed 4.0 g.
1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
1.4 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test method portion, Section 8, of this specification. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 Petrographic examinations are made for the following purposes:
5.1.1 To determine the mineralogy of the material that may be observed by petrographic methods (in this method, by use of XRD) and that may have a bearing on the performance of the material in its intended use.
5.1.2 To determine the relative amounts of the constituents of the sample which is essential for proper evaluation of the sample when the constituents may differ significantly in properties that have a bearing on the performance of the material in its intended use.
5.1.3 This method helps to evaluate mineral aggregate sources for suitability as a material to be used for construction, renovation, or modification of equine surfaces. The information gathered will allow for the comparison of the composition of new mineral sources with samples of other mineral aggregate from one or more sources, for which test data or performance records are available.
5.2 This method may be used by a petrographer employed directly by those for whom the examination is made. The employer should tell the petrographer, in as much detail as necessary, the purposes and objectives of the examination, the kind of information needed, and the extent of examination desired. Pertinent background information, including results of prior testing, should be made available. The petrographer’s advice and judgment should be sought regarding the extent of the examination.
5.3 This method may form the basis for establishing arrangements between a purchaser of consulting petrographic service and the petrographer. In such a case, the purchaser and the consultant should together determine the kind, extent, and objectives of the examination and analyses to be made and should record their agreement in writing. The agreement may stipulate specific determinations to be made, observations to be reported, funds to be obligated, or a combination of these or other conditions.
SCOPE
1.1 X-Ray diffraction (XRD) is a tool for identifying minerals, such as quartz and feldspar, and types of clay present in bulk samples of equine surfaces. Determining the mineralogy of a given bulk sample provides insight into surface properties, such as abrasion resistance by comparing the relative differences of hardness of the various mineral fractions such as quartz or feldspar or the plasticity differences in clay minerals such as smectite or kaolinite. XRD techniques are qualitative in nature and only semi-quantitative.
1.2 Particle size distribution analyses methods including hydrometer tests to determine proportions of sand, silt, and clay fractions based upon particle size but are not able to distinguish particles by shape or mineralogy of materials. In addition to a qualitative detection of minerals present in a sample, XRD methods are also semi-quantitative and also yield important data on the relative proportion of particular minerals present.
1.3 XRD techniques are generally semi-quantitative in nature. Even so, such semiquantitative data is useful in determining relative proportions of each mineral type. This method is also semi-qualitative in nature as it is geared for the determination or mineral groups. For example, it will determine the relative amount of alkali feldspars (such as K-feldspar or Nafeldspar) from Plagioclase-feldspar but not necessarily if the Plagioclase-feldspar is albite or anorthite nor whether the K-feldspar is orthoclase of microcline. Likewise, it will differentiate smectite from mica from kaolinite but not whether the smectite is montmorillonite or saponite. More precise determination of mineral species by XRD is possible but involves more advanced preparation and treatment methods than what is within the scope of this standard.
1.4 The XRD method herein primarily makes use of “Glass Slide Method” but may be subject to modification depending on the user’s needs.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety c...
