Standard Specification for Ethyl Cellulose Molding and Extrusion Compounds

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the standard requirements for plasticized ethyl cellulose thermoplastic compounds suitable for injection molding and extrusion. It does not however include special materials compounded for special applications. Materials shall be ethyl cellulose plastics in the form of pellets with uniform size and composition and may contain colorants in nominal amounts. Test specimens shall conform to the following physical property requirements: unpigmented specific gravity; Rockwell hardness; tensile strength; impact strength; deflection temperature; water absorption; and weight loss on heating.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers requirements for plasticized ethyl cellulose thermoplastic compounds suitable for injection molding and extrusion. It does not include special materials compounded for special applications.
1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The English values given are for information only.
1.3 The following precautionary statement pertains only to the Test Methods portion, Section 10 of this specification.  This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Note 1—There is no known ISO equivalent to this specification.
