ASTM D1786-01(2006)e1
(Specification)Standard Specification for Toluene Diisocyanate
Standard Specification for Toluene Diisocyanate
ABSTRACT
This specification covers toluene diisocyanate used as an ingredient in the production of polyurethane cellular materials. The three classes of toluene diisocyanate covered in this specification are based on isomer ratio, and the three types are based on acidity and hydrolyzable chloride. Materials shall be tested and the individual grades shall conform to specified values of isomer ratio, purity, APHA color, and total chlorine.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers toluene diisocyanate used as an ingredient in the production of polyurethane cellular materials. The properties included in this specification are those required to characterize toluene diisocyanate. Other requirements may become necessary and will be added as the necessary test methods become available.
The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section 6, of this specification: This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.Note 1
There is no equivalent ISO standard.
