Standard Specification for Rigid (Unplasticized) Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Soffit

SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes requirements and test methods for the materials, dimensions, camber, impact strength, weatherability, expansion, and appearance of extruded single-wall soffit manufactured principally from rigid (unplasticized) PVC compound. Methods of indicating compliance with this specification are also provided.
1.2 Nonmandatory color-hold guidelines are provided in Appendix X1 for the manufacturer's product development and quality performance use only.
1.3 Rigid (unplasticized) poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) siding is covered in Specification D3679.
1.4 Soffit produced to this specification shall be installed in accordance with Practice D4756. Reference shall also be made to the manufacturer's installation instructions for the specific product to be installed.  Note 1-Information with regard to soffit maintenance shall be obtained from the manufacturer. Note 2-Soffit color-hold guidelines are for dark gray-blue, light gray-blue, green, dark beige, light beige, gold, yellow, white, and gray regions. Additional colors will be added and color-hold guidelines refined as weathering program data is developed.
1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.  Note 3-There are no ISO standards covering the primary subject matter of this specification.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
