European foreword
This document (prEN 18164:2025) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 “Sports,
playground and other recreational facilities and equipment”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN
(Germany).
This document is currently submitted to CEN Enquiry.
Introduction
The objective with this document is to design climated rooms in such a way that they are safe and
promote health and well-being.
The electrotechnical aspects regarding the construction of climated rooms are important. This document
does not cover those aspects as well as infrared heaters. CENELEC has European standards for
electrotechnical aspects and some are listed in the Bibliography.
1 Scope
This document specifies requirements for the design and construction of climated rooms and any
associated equipment for public use.
This document does not apply to electrotechnical aspects of climated rooms.
NOTE A climated room is defined as an indoor air bath with heated air with a temperature of at least 30 °C,
see 3.9.
2 Normative references
The following documents are referred to in the text in such a way that some or all of their content
constitutes requirements of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For
undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

automatic infusion
technical equipment that carries out an infusion at regular intervals
3.3
capacity
maximum number of persons, specified by the producer, allowed to occupy the room simultaneously
Note 1 to entry: Where the room is equipped with benches, it is assumed that the calculation of the capacity takes
into consideration a minimum width per person, considering the possibility to sit only, or to sit or lie down.
