Windows - Behaviour between different climates - Test method

This European Prestandard specifies the test methods for evaluating: the risks of decay of windows manufactured of different materials through increased moisture accumulation as a result of condensation or water vapour diffusion; the influence of deformation on basic performances of windows manufactured of different materials exposed to different climates between their external and internal faces. Three test methods are to be differentiated. They take into account different cases of loadings.

Diese Europäische Vornorm legt die Prüfverfahren fest zur Beurteilung: der Risiken von Zerstörung von Fenstern aus verschiedenen Werkstoffen durch erhöhte Feuchtigkeitsanreicherung infolge Kondensation oder Diffusion; des Einflusses von Verformung auf die grundsätzlichen Anforderungen von Fenstern aus verschiedenen Werkstoffen unter Belastung durch unterschiedliche Klimaten zwischen den Außen- und Innenflächen. Drei Prüfverfahren sind zu unterscheiden. Diese berücksichtigen verschiedene Belastungsfälle.

La présente Prénorme européenne spécifie les méthodes d'essai permettant d'évaluer: les risques de pourrissement des fenêtres se composant de divers matériaux du fait d'une accumulation accrue d'humidité par suite de la condensation ou de la diffusion de vapeur d'eau; l'influence d'une déformation sur les performances de base des fenêtres réalisées dans divers matériaux exposés à différents climats entre leurs faces externes et internes. Il faut distinguer trois modes opératoires d'essai qui prennent en compte des cas différents de mise en charge.

This document specifies the test method, safety requirements and classification when determining the effect on a complete window or pedestrian doorset impacted with a soft and heavy body. Any secondary moving sashes, casements, leaves, mullions, transoms, T-connectors or fixed lights which can be mounted internally to the main casements or sashes, are intended to also be similarly tested and evaluated for the classification for the complete product.
The test applies to all types of infill of whatever materials including glass. It is not intended to classify the strength of the glass when used as an infill. It is intended to assess the interactions between all components of a window with particular regard to safety in use. It is also applicable to assess the ability of a doorset to keep in place glazed parts.
NOTE 1   The test method is aimed for glazed pedestrian doorsets with injury risk, but can also be used for other types of pedestrian doorsets if requested by the client.
NOTE 2   The test has been devised to suit all window or pedestrian doorset types, configurations and materials.

This document specifies requirements for assessment of the mechanical strength of metal profiles incorporating a thermal barrier having mechanical performance depending on their intended use.
It also specifies the tests to determine the characteristic values of mechanical properties of the thermal barrier profile and to assess the effect of different conditionings of the thermal barrier on the mechanical performance of the connection.
This document does not apply to thermal barriers which do not give a contribution to the mechanical resistance of the profiles.
This document is applicable to thermal barrier profiles designed mainly for windows, doors, screens and curtain walls.
This document does not apply to thermal barriers made only of metal profiles connected with metal pins or screws.
This current edition of EN 14024 will supersede EN 14024:2004. Differences in test procedures between the two versions will not lead to significant differences in test results. Therefore, existing test results according to EN 14024:2004 are considered as equivalent to new test results according to the current edition of EN 14024.

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for the safety in use of power operated door, gate and barrier, intended for installation in areas in the reach of persons, and for which the main intended use is  giving safe access for goods and vehicles accompanied or driven by persons in industrial, commercial or residential premises.
This European Standard also covers power operated vertically moving commercial doors such as rolling shutters and rolling grilles, used in retail premises which are mainly provided for goods protection.
This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to the power operation of industrial, commercial and garage doors, and gates when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable as identified in Clause 4.
All lifetime phases of the machinery including transportation, assembly, dismantling, disabling and scrapping are considered by this standard.
This European Standard does not apply to
-   lock gates and dock gates;
-   doors on lifts;
-   doors on vehicles;
-   armoured doors;
-   doors mainly for the retention of animals, unless they are at the site perimeter ;
-   theatre textile curtains;
-   horizontally moving power operated doors mainly intended for pedestrian use;
-   doors outside the reach of people (such as crane gantry fences);
-   railway barriers;
-   barriers intended solely for use by pedestrians;
-   barriers used solely for vehicles on motorways.
Whenever the term "door" is used in this document, it shall be deemed to cover the full scope of types and variances of doors, gates and barriers in the scope of this Standard.
This European Standard does not deal with any specific requirements on noise emitted from power operated door, gate and barrier, intended for installation in areas in the reach of persons, and for which the main intended use is giving safe access for goods and vehicles accompanied or driven by persons in industrial, commercial or residential premises as their noise emission is not considered to be a relevant hazard.
NOTE   Noise emission of power operated doors is not a significant hazard for the users of these products. It is a comfort aspect.
This European Standard is not applicable to machinery which are manufactured before the date of publication of the standard.

NOTE 1 The elements of curtain walling will be assigned to group 1 to 4 product depending on their design.
This document does not directly cover the resistance of locks and cylinders to attack with picking tools. Building hardware are components of the above mentioned products and cannot be classified as such according to this document.

The transmission of the signal between the lock and the access control system (e.g. wiring) needs also consideration. (The signal is transmitted in encrypted form or is not accessible during the manual attack attempt.) Upcoming revisions of this document might include such a reference.

This document also specifies the method to determine the darkening performance of external blinds, internal blinds and shutters, as specified in EN 14501:2021.
This document applies to the whole range of shutters, awnings and blinds defined in EN 12216, described as solar protection devices in this document. Some of the characteristics (e.g. gtot) are not applicable when products are not parallel to the glazing (e.g. folding-arm awnings).
NOTE 1   Informative Annex D presents an approach for the determination of characteristics in case of projectable products.
Retro-reflecting products are outside the scope of this document for reflectance measurements.
NOTE 2   Retro-reflecting products refer to products for which the reflected radiation comes back to the light source in the same direction.
Products using a significant amount of fluorescent are outside the scope of this document.
NOTE 3   "Significant amount" refers to materials which are designed to be fluorescent or retroreflective and marketed as such. It does not refer to trace amounts of materials exhibiting fluorescence, e.g. for colour or identification purposes. Small amounts of materials such as titanium dioxide, which are not primarily included to achieve fluorescence, can be present.
