La présente norme spécifie les caractéristiques générales, les conditions de qualification, de réception et d'assurance qualité, ainsi que les programmes et les groupes d'essais, pour les connecteurs rectangulaires à un ou plusieurs modules amovibles, destinés à être utilisés dans une plage de températures comprises entre −55 °C et 175 °C continu.
Cette famille de connecteurs est particulièrement adaptée aux utilisations aéronautiques dans les zones soumises à des conditions d’environnement extrêmes à bord des aéronefs, en se conformant à l'EN 2282.
La température maximale en service peut être limitée par la température maximale des contacts.
