Ta del standarda IEC 60793 uvaja enotne zahteve za merjenje geometrijskih lastnosti neprevlečenih optičnih vlaken.
Geometrija neprevlečenih optičnih vlaken neposredno vpliva na spajanje, konektorizacijo in okablenje; gre za temeljne parametre, ki zahtevajo natančno določitev, nadzor kakovosti in merjenje.
