It is part of the generic specification IEC 60874-1, Fibre Optic Interconnecting Devices and Passive Components - Connectors for optical fibres and cables - Part 1: Generic specification. It includes: - a blank worksheet with instructions for preparing detail specifications. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2006. It constitutes a technical revision. Specific technical changes since the second edition include to reconsider quality approval and quality conformance inspection and to add the optical interface standard into the detail specification worksheet.

Elle constitue une révision technique. The text of document 86B/3268/FDIS, future edition 3 of IEC 60874-1-1, prepared by SC 86B, "Fibre optic
interconnecting devices and passive components", of IEC/TC 86, "Fibre optics" was submitted to the
IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN 60874-1-1:2012.

The following dates are fixed:
