REN/SES-00413

Ta dokument zajema dve vrsti komplementarnih talnih komponent:
• konvencionalne komplementarne talne komponente:
– točki 4 in 5 skladno s standardom ETSI EN 301 908-18 [16] za W_CDMA;
– točki 8 in 9 skladno s standardom ETSI EN 301 908-14 [10] za E-UTRA;
• letalske komplementarne talne komponente

Overview

ETSI EN 302 574-1 V2.1.2 (2016-09) (identical to ETSI EN 302 574-1 V2.1.2) is a harmonised European standard for Complementary Ground Components (CGC) used in Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) wideband systems. It covers the radio interface for CGCs operating in the 1 980–2 010 MHz (earth-to-space) and 2 170–2 200 MHz (space-to-earth) bands and documents requirements needed to meet the essential requirement of Article 3.2 of Directive 2014/53/EU (RE Directive) on efficient use of spectrum and avoidance of harmful interference.

This Part 1 publication applies to:

  • Conventional CGC (supporting W_CDMA and E-UTRA elements via referenced ETSI clauses)
  • Aeronautical CGC (ground components communicating with aircraft-mounted terminals)

Key device constraints include transmit/receive capability, operation as part of hybrid satellite/terrestrial networks, and assigned channel bandwidth (CBw) of 1 MHz or greater.

Key Topics and Technical Requirements

The standard focuses on radio performance, coexistence and testability. Major technical topics include:

  • Spectrum emission mask - definitions, limits and conformance procedures to control out‑of‑band energy.
  • Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio (ACLR) - transmitter spectral purity requirements to protect adjacent channels.
  • Transmitter spurious emissions - limits, coexistence considerations and protection of adjacent terrestrial systems (e.g., UTRA FDD/TDD).
  • Maximum output power - definitions and conformance methods for CGC transmit power.
  • Transmit and receiver intermodulation - limits and test methods to avoid self‑interference and degrade nearby receivers.
  • Receiver spurious emissions, blocking and adjacent channel selectivity (ACS) - receiver robustness against strong signals and unwanted emissions.
  • Environmental profile and conformance testing - environmental conditions, radio test suites and measurement procedures.
  • Cross‑references to ETSI EN 301 908‑18 (W_CDMA) and EN 301 908‑14 (E‑UTRA) where applicable.

Practical Applications and Users

SIST EN 302 574-1 is intended for professionals involved in design, certification and deployment of wideband satellite ground elements:

  • Satellite network operators integrating CGCs into hybrid satellite/terrestrial networks.
  • Equipment manufacturers building base station modules, multi‑mode base stations or aeronautical ground units.
  • Test laboratories and conformity assessment bodies performing radio measurements to show compliance with the RE Directive.
  • Regulators and spectrum managers assessing coexistence, interference risk and type approval evidence.
  • Aerospace & aviation SATCOM integrators deploying aeronautical CGCs for in‑flight connectivity.

Related Standards

  • ETSI EN 302 574‑1 (ETSI reference)
  • ETSI EN 301 908‑18 (W_CDMA clauses referenced)
  • ETSI EN 301 908‑14 (E‑UTRA clauses referenced)
  • Directive 2014/53/EU (Radio Equipment Directive, Article 3.2)
