Lubricants, industrial oils and related products (class L) — Classification — Part 99: General

ISO 6743-99:2002 establishes a general system of classification, which appliies to lubricants, Industrial oils and related products, designated by the prefix letter "L". Within class L, 18 families of products are defined, according to the application areas of each, so as to cover, as much as possible, all the applications where lubricants, industrial oils and related products are used. The detailed classification of each family is given in other parts of ISO 6743. The classification only applies to new products.

La présente partie de I'ISO 6743 établit un système général de classification applicable aux lubrifiants, aux huiles industrielles et aux produits connexes, désignés par la lettre préfixe «L». À I'intérieur de cette classe L sont définies 18 familles de produits, selon le domaine d'application de chacune, afin de couvrir, autant que possible, toutes les applications dans lesquelles sont utilisés les lubrifiants, les huiles industrielles et les produits connexes. La classification détaillée de chaque famille est donnée dans d'autres parties de l'ISO 6743. La classification s'applique uniquement à des produits neufs.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (ISO
member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical
committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in
liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 3.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting.
Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this part of ISO 6743 may be the subject of patent
rights. ISO shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
International Standard ISO 6743-99 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 28, Petroleum products and
lubricants, Subcommittee SC 4, Classifications and specifications.
This first edition cancels and replaces ISO 6743-0:1981, which has been technically revised.

Avant-propos
L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de
normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée aux
comités techniques de l'ISO. Chaque comité membre intéressé par une étude a le droit de faire partie du comité
technique créé à cet effet. Les organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non gouvernementales, en liaison
avec l'ISO participent également aux travaux. L'ISO collabore étroitement avec la Commission électrotechnique
internationale (CEI) en ce qui concerne la normalisation électrotechnique.

NACIONALNI UVOD

Klasifikacija – 99. del: Splošno, prva izdaja, 2002, ima status slovenskega standarda in je
enakovreden mednarodnemu standardu ISO 6743-99 (en), Lubricants, industrial oils and related
products (class L) – Classification – Part 99: General, prva izdaja, 2002-08-01.
NACIONALNI PREDGOVOR
Mednarodni standard ISO 6743-99:2002 je pripravil mednarodni tehnični odbor ISO/TC 28 Naftni
proizvodi in maziva. Slovenski standard SIST ISO 6743-99:2003 je prevod angleškega besedila
mednarodnega standarda ISO 6743-99:2002. V primeru spora glede besedila slovenskega prevoda v
tem standardu je odločilen izvirni mednarodni standard v angleškem jeziku.
Slovenski tehnični odbor SIST/TC NAD Naftni proizvodi, maziva in sorodni proizvodi je evropski
standard ISO 6743-99:2002 privzel dne 2003-01-29.
