Foreword

ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards

bodies (ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out

through ISO technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical

committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International

organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.

ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of

electrotechnical standardization.

The committee responsible for this document is ISO/TC 2, Fasteners, Subcommittee SC 12, Fasteners

with metric internal thread.
This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 4033:2012).
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
— M18, M22, M27, M33 and M39 have been added;
— minimum height of the washer-face c has been added;

— d , d and m have been specified with two decimal places;

— d for M5 has been changed from s – IT16 to s – IT15 in order to have a larger bearing

surface area and thus less contact pressure;

— for steel nuts, quenching and tempering condition has been specified in accordance with ISO 898-2,

property class 9 has been deleted and property class 12 has been added;
— stainless steel nuts have been added;
— specifications for marking and labelling have been added as Clause 6.

1 Scope

This document specifies the characteristics of hexagon high nuts (style 2), in steel and stainless steel,

with metric coarse pitch thread M5 to M39, and with product grades A and B.

If in certain cases other specifications are requested, property classes and stainless steel grades can be

selected from ISO 898-2 or ISO 3506-2.

Le présent document a été élaboré par le comité technique ISO/TC 2, Fixations, Sous-comité SC 12,

Fixations à filetage métrique intérieur.

Cette quatrième édition annule et remplace la troisième édition (ISO 4033:2012) qui a fait l’objet d’une

révision technique.

Les principales modifications par rapport à l’édition précédente sont les suivantes :

— M18, M22, M27, M33 et M39 ont été ajoutés;

— la hauteur minimale de la collerette au niveau de la face d'appui c a été ajoutée;

— d d et m ont été spécifiés avec deux décimales;

— d pour M5 a été changé de s – IT16 à s – IT15 afin d’avoir une plus grande surface d’appui et

ainsi une pression de contact moins importante;

— pour les écrous en acier, le fait que les écrous soient dans l'état trempé et revenu a été spécifié

conformément à l’ISO 898-2, la classe de qualité 9 a été supprimée et la classe de qualité 12 a été

ajoutée;
— les écrous en acier inoxydable ont été ajoutés;

— les spécifications pour le marquage et l’étiquetage ont été ajoutées à l’Article 6.

1 Domaine d’application

Le présent document spécifie les caractéristiques des écrous hexagonaux hauts (style 2), en acier et en

acier inoxydable, à filetage métrique à pas gros de diamètre M5 à M39, et de grades A et B.

Si dans certains cas d’autres spécifications sont requises, les classes de qualité et les grades d’acier

inoxydable peuvent être choisis dans l'ISO 898-2 ou l'ISO 3506-2.
