Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (the Inter-
national Electrotechnical Commission) form the specialized system for worldwide
standardization. National bodies that are members of IS0 or IEC participate in the
development of International Standards through technical committees established
by the respective organization to deal with particular fields of technical activity.
IS0 and IEC technical committees collaborate in fields of mutual interest. Other
international organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with
IS0 and IEC, also take part in the work.

Introduction
This amendment to ITU-T Rec. X.233 I ISOAEC 8473-1 adds features to the protocol that support:

extensibility - the ability for a system to classify each option in a received PDU according to whether or
not the option can be ignored, even if it does not recognize the individual option type code (so that new
options can be added to future revisions of the standard with minimal impact on existing
implementations); and

3.7.8 “strong” forwarding: Forwarding only PDUs for which the QOS criteria can be satisfied.

Avant-propos
L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) et la CE1 (Commission
électrotechnique internationale) forment ensemble un système consacré à la
normalisation internationale considérée comme un tout. Les organismes nationaux
membres de I'ISO ou de la CE1 participent au développement de Normes inter-
nationales par l'intermédiaire des comités techniques créés par l'organisation
concernée afin de s'occuper des différents domaines particuliers de l'activité
technique. Les comités techniques de ITSO et de la CE1 collaborent dans des
domaines d'intérêt commun. D'autres organisations internationales, gouverne-
mentales et non gouvernementales, en liaison avec 1'ISO et la CE1 participent
également aux travaux.
Dans le domaine des technologies de l'information, I'ISO et la CE1 ont créé un
comité technique mixte, l'ISO/CEI JTC 1. Les projets de Normes internationales
adoptés par le comité technique mixte sont soumis aux organismes nationaux pour
approbation, avant leur acceptation comme Normes internationales. Les Normes
internationales sont approuvées conformément aux procédures qui requièrent
l'approbation de 75 % au moins des organismes nationaux votants.
L'Amendement 2 à la Norme internationale ISO/CEI 8473-1 : 1994 a été élaboré
par le comité technique mixte ISO/CEI JTC 1, Technologies de l'information,
sous-comité SC 6, Téléinformatique, en collaboration avec I'UIT-T. Le texte
identique est publié en tant que Rec. UIT-T X.233/Amd.2.

Introduction
Le présent amendement à la Rec. UIT-T X.233 I ISOKEI 8473-1 ajoute au protocole des fonctionnalités qui prennent en
charge:
possibilité d'extension - capacité pour un système de décider s'il est possible d'ignorer ou non chacun des
paramètres optionnels d'une unité PDU reçue, même s'il ne reconnaît pas son code de type propre (ce qui
permet d'ajouter de nouvelles options aux futures versions de la norme et d'en minimiser les répercussions
sur les réalisations existantes);
retransmission «robuste» aussi bien que «fragile» selon le maintien de la qualité de service - capacité
pour les systèmes intermédiaires d'identifier les unités PDU contenant des options du type 3 et qui ont été
retransmises par un ou plusieurs systèmes ne prenant pas en charge ces options.
Le présent amendement apporte également des corrections à la spécification relative à la décrémentation du champ de
durée de vie, qui à l'origine pouvait être interprétée comme autorisant ou prescrivant une implémentation de
décrémentation à des valeurs inférieures à O.
