Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International
Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has
the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, govern-
mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council. They are approved in accordance with IS0 procedures requiring at
least 75 % approval by the member bodies voting.
International Standard IS0 8743 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 2,
Fasteners.

Scope and field of application

This International Standard specifies the characteristics of half-length centre grooved pins which have three equally spaced grooves
impressed longitudinally on their exterior surface, with metric dimensions and nominal diameter, dl, from 1,5 to 25 mm inclusive.
The displaced material to each side of the grooves forming an expanded diameter d2 which is larger than the nominal diameter dl will
cause a positive locking fit when these grooved pins are forced into a drilled hole equal to the nominal diameter dl (see clause 4).

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale

1 Objet et domaine d‘application
La présente Norme internationale spécifie les caractéristiques des goupilles cannelées, à trois cannelures centrales constantes sur la
moitié de leur longueur, non débouchantes et régulièrement espacées, de dimensions métriques et de diamètre nominal, d,, de 1,5 à
25 mm inclus.
Le matériau refoulé de chaque côté des cannelures forme un renflement dont le diamètre d2, supérieur au diamètre nominal d,, permet
un ajustement serré de ces goupilles cannelées lorsqu’elles sont emmanchées en force dans un trou de diamètre de perçage égal au
diamètre nominal de la goupille dl (voir chapitre 4).
