Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (the International Electrotechnical Commission) form the
specialized system for worldwide standardization. National bodies that are members of ISO or IEC participate in the
development of International Standards through technical committees established by the respective organization to deal with
particular fields of technical activity. ISO and IEC technical committees collaborate in fields of mutual interest. Other
international organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO and IEC, also take part in the work.
In the field of information technology, ISO and IEC have established a joint technical committee, ISO/IEC JTC 1. Draft
International Standards adopted by the joint technical committee are circulated to national bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the national bodies casting a vote.

Fast-associate mechanism
1) Introduction
Add the following paragraphs:
The fast-associate mechanism allows a session connection, including its embedded presentation connection and application
association, to be established using a compressed form of the information that would otherwise be sent on the S-CONNECT
exchange. The compressed form, called the upper-layer context identifier, is a reference to an upper-layer context specification,
which is a definition of the fields of the application ACSE, presentation and session protocols that would be sent on the full-
form connect messages. The upper-layer context identifier may be parameterized to include values for variable fields allowed
by the full form protocols for the upper-layers.
Within the ACSE protocol, the addition is the definition of the construction of the User-summary parameter of the
P-CONNECT primitives from the semantics of the AARQ fields and the User-summary parameter of the corresponding
A-ASSOCIATE primitive.

L’ISO (Organisation
electrotechnique internationale) forment ensemble un systeme consacre a la
normalisation internationale consideree comme un tout. Les organismes nationaux
membres de I’ISO ou de la CEI participent au developpement de Normes internationales
par l’intermediaire des comites techniques trees par l’organisation concernee afin de
s’occuper des differents domaines particuliers de l’activite technique. Les comites
techniques de I’ISO et de la CEI collaborent dans des domaines d’interet commun.
D’autres organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non gouvernementales, en
liaison avec I’ISO et la CEI participent egalement aux travaux.
Dans le domaine des technologies de l’information, I’ISO et la CEI ont tree un comite
technique mixte, l’ISO/CEI JTC 1. Les projets de Normes internationales adopt& par le
comite technique mixte sont soumis aux organismes nationaux pour approbation, avant
leur acceptation comme Normes internationales. Les Normes internationales sont
approuvees conformement aux procedures qui requierent l’approbation de 75 % au
moins des organismes nationaux votants.

Le mecanisme d’association rapide perrnet l’etablissement d’une connexion de session, y compris de sa connexion de
presentation imbriquee et son association d’application, en utilisant une for-me comprimee de l’information qui autrement
aurait ete envoyee lors de l’echange de primitives S-CONNECT. La forrne comprimee, appelee ident$cateur de contexte
de couches supkrieures, est une reference a une specification de contexte de couches superieures qui d&nit les champs
des protocoles d’application, d’element ACSE, de presentation et de session qui seraient emis sous forme complete dans
des messages de type CONNECT. Cet identificateur de contexte de couches superieures peut etre parametre afin d’y
inclure des valeurs pour les champs variables autorises par les protocoles de forme complete pour les couches
superieures.
