Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components - Basic test and measurement procedures - Part 2-27: Tests - Dust (laminar flow) (IEC 61300-2-27:2024)
IEC 61300-2-27:2024 determines the effects of dust on fibre optic interconnecting devices or passive components. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1995. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) normative references have been added;
b) the relative humidity requirement during the test has been modified;
c) the procedure description has been modified;
d) Figure 1 showing possible test configurations has been added;
e) the severity of the test has been updated according to the component and performance category;
f) Clause 8 has been added, listing details to be specified and reported.

IEC 61300-2-27: 2024 détermine les effets de la poussière sur les dispositifs d'interconnexion ou composants passifs fibroniques. Cette deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition parue en 1995. Cette édition constitue une révision technique.Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente:
a) des références normatives ont été ajoutées;
b) l’exigence d'humidité relative au cours de l’essai a été modifiée;
c) la description du mode opératoire a été modifiée;
d) La Figure 1 représentant les configurations d’essai possibles a été ajoutée;
e) la sévérité de l’essai conformément à la catégorie du composant et à la catégorie de performance a été mise à jour;
f) L’Article 8 a été ajouté, énumérant les informations détaillées à spécifier et à consigner.

The text of document 86B/4875/FDIS, future edition 2 of IEC 61300-2-27, prepared by SC 86B "Fibre
optic interconnecting devices and passive components" of IEC/TC 86 "Fibre optics" was submitted to
the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and approved by CENELEC as EN IEC 61300-2-27:2024.
The following dates are fixed:
• latest date by which the document has to be implemented at national (dop) 2025-03-06
level by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement
• latest date by which the national standards conflicting with the (dow) 2025-06-06
document have to be withdrawn
This document supersedes EN 61300-2-27:1997 and all of its amendments and corrigenda (if any).

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international
co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and
in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports,
Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). Their
preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with
may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising
with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely with the International Organization for
