SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 is the Slovenian adoption of EN 300 064-2 Version 1.3.4 from ETSI. It specifies the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Direct Dialling In (DDI) supplementary service over the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol. The document is for suppliers, implementers, and testers who need to state and check what an implementation supports against the DDI protocol specification.
What does SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 specify?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 specifies the PICS proforma for stage three of the DDI supplementary service in pan-European ISDN at the T reference point, or at coincident S and T reference point, using DSS1. In practice, it gives the structured questionnaire used to declare what a user or network implementation supports, so conformance can be assessed in a consistent way.
The document is the second part of a multi-part standard for the DDI DSS1 protocol. Its organization is straightforward: the main clauses cover scope, references, definitions, abbreviations, and conformance, followed by normative annexes for the PICS proforma and related requirements.
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Annex A | Normative PICS proforma, including instructions, identification fields, conformance statements, roles, and user/network tables |
| Annex B | Normative requirements list linking this part to basic call and supplementary service interaction PICS items |
| Annex C | Informative changes with respect to the previous ETS 300 064-2 |
What are the key requirements of SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 is mainly a conformance-document standard, so its requirements focus on how to complete and use the PICS proforma rather than on network behavior itself. The practical task is to record exactly which capabilities are implemented, and to make that declaration usable for static conformance review.
Conformance of the PICS proforma
A conforming PICS proforma shall be technically equivalent to Annex A and keep the same numbering and order of items. A conforming PICS shall describe an implementation that claims conformance to EN 300 064-1, be completed according to the instructions in A.1, and identify both the supplier and the implementation. This matters because testers need a stable checklist that matches the protocol specification item by item.
Identification and global statement
Annex A requires identification of the Implementation Under Test (IUT), the System Under Test (SUT), the product supplier, the client, and a contact person. It also includes a global statement of conformance asking whether the implementation meets all mandatory requirements. In practice, this makes the PICS traceable to a specific product, version, and responsible organization.
How the PICS is completed
Annex A explains that a “Yes” answer to the global conformance statement means the later subclauses should be completed to support selection of test cases for optional functions. A “No” answer means all subsequent subclauses still need completion, and any non-supported mandatory capabilities must be identified and explained. That is important for audits and interoperability reviews because it shows exactly where an implementation departs from the referenced protocol.
Roles and applicability
Annex A separates the proforma into a Roles clause and then user and network parts. The User clause is completed only for user implementations, including private network implementations, while the Network clause is completed only for network implementations. This keeps suppliers from filling in irrelevant items and helps reviewers focus on the correct side of the interface.
Numbering options
The user part records support for numbering options such as incomplete ISDN number operation from the agreed starting point within the full ISDN number and full ISDN number operation. The network part records whether the implementation delivers the full ISDN number or a partial ISDN number from the agreed starting point within the full ISDN number. In practice, this tells operators and equipment suppliers how numbers are handled across the service boundary.
Basic call and supplementary service interactions
Annex B adds requirements linked to the basic call PICS and the supplementary service interactions PICS. On the user side, it covers incoming calls, overlap receiving, interpretation of the Called party number information element in SETUP, and DDI interactions with other supplementary services. On the network side, it repeats the interaction requirement for other supplementary services and states that there are no additional restrictions on basic call. This matters because DDI has to work alongside basic call handling and with other services already implemented in the system.
What terms does SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 define?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 defines the key conformance-testing terms used in the PICS process.
- Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) - A statement by the supplier that identifies which capabilities of an OSI protocol implementation are supported.
- PICS proforma - A questionnaire-style document that becomes the PICS when completed for a specific implementation.
- Static conformance review - A comparison of the completed PICS against the static conformance requirements in the relevant standards.
- Implementation Under Test (IUT) - The implementation being checked for conformance.
- System Under Test (SUT) - The system in which the implementation under test resides.
- System Conformance Statement (SCS) - A supplier or client document that lists the standards implemented and the claimed conformance.
- Direct Dialling In (DDI) - The ISDN supplementary service covered by the protocol specification.
Who uses SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 is used by protocol suppliers, ISDN equipment vendors, test laboratories, and telecom operators that need to declare or verify conformance of DDI implementations. Quality and certification teams use it to complete the PICS, compare implementations against the protocol specification, and select relevant test cases. Buyers and integrators use it to check whether a product supports the user or network features needed for a specific ISDN deployment.
What changed in SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 from the previous edition?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 was updated to convert the document to EN layout and to replace references to ETS 300 102 and associated I-ETSs with EN 300 403. It also replaces non-specific references to basic standards where the intention is to use the latest version. The foreword says the version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
Which standards are used with SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 cites the following standards and recommendations as its technical framework:
- EN 300 064-1 - The DDI protocol specification that the PICS refers to.
- EN 300 403-1 - The basic call control protocol specification used for circuit-mode basic call handling.
- EN 300 195-2 - The PICS proforma for supplementary service interactions.
- EN 300 403-3 - The basic call PICS proforma used for related requirements.
- ISO/IEC 9646-1 - The general conformance testing concepts and framework.
- ISO/IEC 9646-7 - The guidance for implementation conformance statements.
- CCITT Recommendation I.130 - The method for characterizing ISDN services and network capabilities.
- ITU-T Recommendation I.411 - The reference configurations for ISDN user-network interfaces.
What does the SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 document contain?
SIST EN 300 064-2 V1.3.4:2005 contains a completed-blank PICS structure with identification fields, a global conformance question, role selection, and separate user and network tables. It also contains requirements lists that point back to the basic call and supplementary service interaction PICS documents, so the same item does not need to be repeated in full. Annex A gives the questionnaire format, Annex B gives the linked requirement items, and Annex C summarizes the changes from the previous edition.
The document is designed for conformance declarations, implementation review, and test selection. Its tables use status and support markings so a supplier can indicate what is mandatory, optional, or not applicable for a specific implementation.

Foreword
This European Standard (Telecommunications series) has been produced by ETSI Technical Committee Signalling
Protocols and Switching (SPS).
The present document is part 2 of a multi-part standard covering the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one
(DSS1) protocol specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Direct Dialling In (DDI)
supplementary service, as described below:
Part 1: "Protocol specification";
Part 2: "Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification";
Part 3: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the user";
Part 4: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the user";
Part 5: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the network";
Part 6: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the network".
To evaluate conformance of a particular implementation, it is necessary to have a statement of which capabilities and
options have been implemented for a given Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol. Such a statement is called a
Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS).
The present version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
