SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 is the Slovenian adoption of ETSI EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4 for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) supplementary service over Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1). It specifies the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma that a supplier completes to state how an implementation conforms to EN 300 093-1, for both user and network implementations.

What does SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 specify?

SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 specifies the PICS proforma for the stage three CLIR supplementary service in pan-European ISDN, provided at the T reference point or coincident S and T reference point using DSS1. In practice, it is the document you use to declare which CLIR capabilities, options and related protocol items an implementation supports before conformance is assessed.

Clause 1 sets the scope around the CLIR supplementary service and ties the proforma to EN 300 093-1 and ISO/IEC 9646-7. Clause 2 names the normative references used by the proforma, clauses 3 to 5 define terms, abbreviations and conformance, and the annexes carry the completed questionnaire structure and related requirements.

AnnexWhat it covers
Annex ANormative PICS proforma, including identification, roles, user and network capability tables
Annex BNormative requirements list linking this PICS to basic call and supplementary service interaction proformas
Annex CInformative changes from the previous ETS 300 093-2

What are the key requirements of SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005?

SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 requires a completed PICS that is technically equivalent to Annex A and keeps its numbering and order. That matters because the form is used directly for static conformance review and for selecting applicable test cases.

Conformance and completion rules

Clause 5 states that a conforming PICS must describe an implementation that claims conformance to EN 300 093-1, must be completed according to the instructions in Annex A, and must identify both supplier and implementation. In practice, this means the declaration has to be specific enough to tie the claimed conformance to a named product or system.

Annex A.1 explains how to fill in the PICS. It asks for identification of the Implementation Under Test (IUT), the System Under Test (SUT), the supplier, the client and the contact person, so the document can be traced during testing or review.

Roles and implementation type

Table A.1 in Annex A distinguishes user and network roles. A completed PICS must indicate whether the implementation supports user requirements, network requirements, or both, and then complete the relevant user or network sections.

This matters because the rest of the proforma is split by role. A user implementation completes the user tables, a network implementation completes the network tables, and both must cover the Roles subclause.

User-side CLIR capability

In Annex A.7, the user section records the major capabilities, subsidiary capabilities, protocol data units, parameters, timers and call states relevant to user implementations. The main user capability shown is CLIR on a temporary, per-call basis for the served user.

For a reader, this is the part that shows whether a user-side implementation supports hiding the calling line on a call-by-call basis. The related parameter table also points to the Calling party number information element and the presentation indicator, which is important when the implementation sends or interprets presentation allowed or presentation restricted information.

Network-side CLIR capability

Annex A.8 covers the network side. The main network capability is the originating network provision of CLIR on a temporary per-call basis, with options for default presentation restricted or default presentation not restricted, and an option for permanent mode basis.

In practice, this section tells a network supplier which CLIR behaviour it supports at call origination. That is the part that determines how the network applies caller identity restriction by default and whether it supports a permanent setting.

Relationship to basic call and supplementary service interactions

Annex B gives requirements that connect this CLIR proforma to the basic call PICS and the supplementary service interactions PICS. It repeats items used in the basic call proforma, such as outgoing calls and inclusion of the Calling party number, and items used in supplementary service interaction tests.

This matters because CLIR does not stand alone in implementation testing. A supplier completing CLIR conformance also has to show how CLIR interacts with basic call handling and with other implemented supplementary services.

Use of status and support markings

Annex A.1.4 defines the PICS notation used in the tables: M, O, N/A and O.n for status, and Y and N for support. These markings let the supplier record whether a feature is mandatory, optional, not applicable or one of several selectable options.

That is practical for procurement and testing because the completed PICS can be read as a checklist of implemented features. Test selection then follows the declared support.

What terms does SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 define?

Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) - A statement by the supplier showing which capabilities of a given OSI protocol implementation have been implemented.

PICS proforma - A questionnaire-style document that becomes the PICS once it is completed for a specific implementation or system.

Static conformance review - A review that compares the PICS with the static conformance requirements in the relevant standard.

Implementation Under Test (IUT) - The implementation being evaluated for conformance.

System Under Test (SUT) - The system in which the IUT resides and that is identified in the PICS.

System Conformance Statement (SCS) - A related statement that summarizes which standards are implemented and to which conformance is claimed.

DSS1 - Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one, the signalling protocol used here for ISDN CLIR.

Who uses SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005?

This standard is used by protocol suppliers, ISDN equipment vendors, test laboratories, and conformance teams that need to document or assess CLIR support. It is also useful for quality managers and buyers who want to check what a product claims for user-side and network-side CLIR behaviour.

In practice, they use it to complete the PICS, compare an implementation against the referenced protocol specification, and identify which options and interactions need test coverage.

What changed in SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 from the previous edition?

Annex C lists these changes from the previous ETS 300 093-2:

  • conversion to EN layout
  • replacement of references to ETS 300 102 with EN 300 403
  • replacement of references to associated I-ETSs with EN 300 403
  • substitution of non-specific references to basic standards where the intent is to refer to the latest version

Which standards are used with SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005?

The normative references and companion parts named in the document are:

  • EN 300 093-1 - the CLIR protocol specification that the PICS describes
  • EN 300 403-1 - basic call control protocol specification used for basic call references
  • EN 300 403-3 - basic call PICS proforma used for related items in Annex B
  • EN 300 195-1 - supplementary service interactions protocol specification
  • EN 300 195-2 - supplementary service interactions PICS proforma used in Annex B
  • ISO/IEC 9646-1 - conformance testing framework and general concepts
  • ISO/IEC 9646-7 - rules for implementation conformance statements and proforma presentation
  • CCITT Recommendation I.130 - method for characterizing ISDN services and capabilities
  • ITU-T Recommendation I.411 - ISDN user-network interface reference configurations

These references anchor the PICS in the broader ISDN conformance-testing framework and define the related basic call and supplementary service items that must be considered.

What does the SIST EN 300 093-2 V1.2.4:2005 document contain?

The document contains a structured questionnaire in Annex A, with identification fields for the IUT, SUT, supplier, client and contact person, plus a global conformance statement. It then provides tables for roles, user capabilities, network capabilities, and the relevant protocol data unit parameters.

Annex A also includes the guidance for completing the tables and the status/support notation used to mark each item. Annex B repeats selected basic call and supplementary service interaction requirements so the CLIR PICS can be aligned with the related base proformas. Annex C records the changes made relative to the previous edition.

Foreword
This European Standard (Telecommunications series) has been produced by ETSI Technical Committee Signalling
Protocols and Switching (SPS).
The present document is part 2 of a multi-part standard covering the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one
(DSS1) protocol specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Calling Line Identification Restriction
(CLIR) supplementary service, as described below:
Part 1: "Protocol specification";
Part 2: "Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification";
Part 3: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the user";
Part 4: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the user";
Part 5: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the network";
Part 6: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the network".
To evaluate conformance of a particular implementation, it is necessary to have a statement of which capabilities and
options have been implemented for a given Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol. Such a statement is called a
Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS).
The present version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
