Wood-based panels - Determination of modulus of elasticity in bending and of bending strength

This European Standard specifies a method of determining the apparent modulus of elasticity in flatwise bending and bending strength of wood-based panels of nominal thickness equal to or greater than 3 mm. Note: Structural design values shall be determined according to methods according to EN (124.102).

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des scheinbaren Flachbiege-Elastizitätsmoduls und der Biegefestigkeit von Holzwerkstoffen mit einer Nenndicke von 3 mm oder grösser fest. Anmerkung: Werte für Konstruktionßwecke sind nach EN (124.102) zu ermitteln.

La présente norme européenne prescrit une méthode de détermination du module d'élasticité apparente en flexion axiale et de la résistance a la flexion des panneaux a base de bois ayant une épaisseur nominale égale ou supérieure a 3 mm. Note: Les valeurs nécessaires a l'utilisation en structure doivent etre calculés selon EN (124.102).

This European Standard describes a method for assessing the resistance of wood-based panel products to attack by wood-destroying basidiomycete fungi growing in pure culture.
The method is applicable to uncoated, rigid wood-based panel products. It is applicable to the determination of the decay resistance of wood-based panel products:
— made from naturally durable materials;
— made from materials treated with preservatives prior to manufacture;
— treated with a preservative which is introduced during manufacture, for example as an additive to the adhesive;
— treated with preservative after manufacture.
NOTE 1 This method can be used in conjunction with an appropriate ageing procedure, for example EN 73 or EN 84.
NOTE 2 Wood-based panel products that have received a preservative treatment after manufacture can be susceptible to attack through the cut edges of the test specimens and the decay resistance indicated can be less than that of complete panels used in service.
Annex A (informative) contains a guidance on sampling.
Annex B (normative) contains some methods of sterilization.
Annex C (informative) contains information on the culture vessels.
Annex D (informative) contains an example of a test report.
Annex E (informative) contains information on the test fungi.

EN 326-2+A1 specifies methods for internal initial type testing (ITT) and internal factory production control (FPC) as well as external control of wood-based panels for their compliance with EN 13986 and other relevant product specifications. However, it may also apply, at the option of the manufacturer, to wood-based panels applied for non-construction purposes. This European Standard is not applicable for the assessment of compliance with specifications of panels comprised in consignments. In such cases, EN 326-3 applies. For internal factory production control, if required, methods for the assessment of conformity of batches and of production over longer periods are given. For external control, if required, methods for the initial inspection of a factory and initial type testing of a product, and for the surveillance of the factory production control, are given. In the factory production control small test pieces are used. The statistics of evaluation is based on normal distribution.
