SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 is the Slovenian adoption of ETS 300 702-1 Edition 1 from ETSI. It gives the Profile Test Specification (PTS) summary for the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications/Global System for Mobile communications (DECT/GSM) Interworking Profile (IWP), identifying the conformance-test documents used for Portable radio Termination (PT) and Fixed radio Termination (FT) equipment. In practice, it tells manufacturers and test laboratories which DECT, GAP and profile test suites belong together when checking DECT/GSM IWP conformance.
What does SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 specify?
SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 specifies the PTS summary and the references needed for conformance testing of the DECT/GSM IWP as specified in ETS 300 370. The document is the Part 1 summary of a three-part ETS: Part 1 is the summary, Part 2 is the PSTS for PT, and Part 3 is the PSTS for FT.
Clause 4 gives profile identification and points to the related profile documents. Clause 5 lists the test documents used for each DECT protocol layer to be tested. Clause 6 states the conformance conditions for the test realization and for the laboratories that run the tests.

| Part 2 | Profile Specific Test Specification (PSTS) for PT |
| Part 3 | Profile Specific Test Specification (PSTS) for FT |
What are the key requirements of SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998?
SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 does not define product functions; it organizes the test basis for the DECT/GSM IWP. The key point is that each layer has its own protocol reference, PICS proformas, test suite structure, abstract test suite, and applicability scope.
Profile identification in Clause 4
Clause 4 identifies the profile as DECT/GSM IWP and links it to the profile specification, the profile ICS proformas, the PSTS documents, the profile IXIT proformas, and the SCS proformas. For a reader, this is the starting point for choosing the correct PT or FT test path and the right supporting declarations.
NWK, DLC, MAC and PHL test mapping in Clause 5
- NWK layer testing uses ETS 300 175-5, the relevant PICS proformas, and the TCL documents for TSS, TP and ATS. Its applicability covers basic speech and the basic services and procedures for the CC, MM and LCE entities.
- DLC layer testing uses ETS 300 175-4, the relevant PICS proformas, and the TCL documents for TSS, TP and ATS. Its applicability covers basic connection, C-plane Class-A service, U-plane class 0/min_delay, FU1 frame, hand over and ciphering.
- MAC layer testing uses ETS 300 175-3, the relevant PICS proformas, and the TCL documents for TSS, TP and ATS. Its applicability covers C higher layer signalling, basic connections, continuous broadcast, paging, SARI support, encryption, bearer and connection handover, quality control, T-MUX and U-MUX.
- PHL layer testing uses ETS 300 175-2, the PICS proforma, and ETS 300 176-1 for TSS and ATS. Its applicability covers general terminal attachment requirements and basic telephony applications.
Profile-specific additions
Clause 5 also points to profile-specific material for the DECT/GSM IWP itself. ETS 300 704-1 and ETS 300 704-2 supply the profile ICS proformas, while ETS 300 702-2 and ETS 300 702-3 supply the additional TSS & TP, additional test cases, partial profile IXIT proformas, and modified selection expressions. In practice, these are the documents that adapt the generic DECT test basis to the DECT/GSM IWP.
Conformance in Clause 6
Clause 6 requires the means of testing (MOT) to comply with ISO/IEC 9646-4. It also requires each referenced ATS to conform to the ATS specification as modified by the PSTS, and it requires laboratories running the conformance tests to comply with ISO/IEC 9646-5. That matters because the test system and the lab process both have to follow the defined conformance-testing framework.
What terms does SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 define?
- Profile Test Specification (PTS) - The summary document that collects the references needed to test conformance to a profile.
- Profile Specific Test Specification (PSTS) - The profile-specific test content and adaptations applied to the generic test basis for PT or FT.
- Abstract Test Suite (ATS) - The abstract set of test cases that defines what is tested without tying it to a particular implementation.
- Implementation Conformance Statement (ICS) - The statement used to declare which profile options an implementation supports.
- Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (IXIT) - The extra information needed to run the tests against a specific implementation.
- Partial PIXIT - The profile-specific testing information selected for a particular layer or profile part.
- System Conformance Statement (SCS) - The statement that describes the conformance position of the system under test.
- Means Of Testing (MOT) - The concrete test arrangement used to realize the conformance testing.
Who uses SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998?
SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 is used by manufacturers of DECT/GSM interworking equipment, especially teams working on PT and FT implementations. Test laboratories use it to assemble the right ATS, IXIT and profile-specific documents before running conformance tests.
It is also useful to quality managers, certification staff, and buyers who need to check which documents support a DECT/GSM IWP conformance claim. For engineering teams, it acts as the map between the profile specification and the test documents for each protocol layer.
Which standards are used with SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998?
SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 depends on several companion standards and families of standards:
- ETS 300 370 - defines the DECT/GSM IWP access and mapping for the 3,1 kHz speech service.
- ETS 300 175-1 to -9 - provide the DECT Common Interface overview and the physical, MAC, DLC and NWK layer specifications, plus identities, security, speech coding and the Public Access Profile.
- ETS 300 476-1 to -7 and ETS 300 474-1 to -2 - provide the PICS and ICS proformas used to declare implementation capabilities.
- ETS 300 497-1 to -9 - provide the TCL test suite structure, test purposes and abstract test suites for MAC, DLC and NWK.
- ETS 300 494-1 to -3 - provide the GAP PTS summary and PSTS referenced as the test basis.
- ETS 300 702-2 and ETS 300 702-3 - provide the PSTS for PT and FT.
- ETS 300 176-1 - provides the radio approval test specification used for the PHL layer.
- ISO/IEC 9646-1 to -7 - provide the conformance testing methodology, abstract test suite specification, test realization rules, laboratory requirements, protocol profile test specification framework and ICS framework.
What does the SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 document contain?
SIST ETS 300 702-1:1998 contains a foreword, scope, normative references, definitions and abbreviations, profile identification, the elements of the PTS for NWK, DLC, MAC and PHL, a conformance clause, and document history. Its main technical content is in the tables that map each layer to the relevant protocol specification, PICS proformas, TSS & TP, ATS, applicability, ATM and partial PIXIT references.
Tables 1 to 13 organize the test basis for the DECT/GSM IWP, including the profile identification and the layer-by-layer references for PT and FT. The document gives the structure needed for conformance planning and test selection, but it points to the companion standards for the detailed test suites and procedures.
