SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 is the Slovenian standard identical to EN 300 359-2 Version 1.2.4, published by SIST. It is a Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Completion of Calls to Busy Subscriber (CCBS) supplementary service over the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol, and it tells suppliers and test teams what to declare for user and network implementations.

What does SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 specify?

SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 specifies the PICS proforma for the stage three description of the CCBS supplementary service in pan-European ISDN. It is used at the T reference point, or at coincident S and T reference points, and it follows the conformance guidance of ISO/IEC 9646-7.

The document is organized into five clauses and three annexes:

AnnexWhat it covers
Annex ANormative PICS proforma, including instructions, identification fields, conformance statement, roles, user items, and network items
Annex BNormative requirements list that ties CCBS items to the basic call, generic functional protocol, and supplementary service interactions PICS proformas
Annex CInformative summary of changes compared with the previous ETS 300 359-2

Clause 1 gives the scope, Clause 2 lists normative references, Clause 3 defines key terms, Clause 4 lists abbreviations, and Clause 5 sets the conformance rule for the PICS proforma.

What are the key requirements of SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005?

SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 is mainly a completion and conformance document. The practical requirement is to complete the annex A questionnaire in a way that matches the implementation under test and preserves the structure of the proforma.

Conformance and completion

Clause 5 requires any conforming PICS proforma to be technically equivalent to annex A and to keep the same numbering and order of items. In practice, this means a supplier cannot reorder or rewrite the questionnaire in a way that changes the way conformance is checked.

Annex A.1 also requires the PICS to identify the implementation under test (IUT), the system under test (SUT), the supplier, the client, and a contact person. This matters because conformance review depends on knowing exactly what product, version, and configuration is being claimed.

Global statement and role selection

Annex A.5 asks whether the implementation meets all mandatory requirements of EN 300 359-1. If the answer is “No”, the unsupported mandatory capabilities must be identified and explained, so the result is an explicit non-conformance statement rather than an incomplete form.

Annex A.6 separates the implementation into roles. The PICS must show whether the implementation supports CCBS as a user-side or network-side implementation, and whether it covers called or calling user behavior, coincident S and T reference point behavior, or private ISDN interworking at the T reference point. This is important because the rest of the questionnaire changes with the role.

User-side capability declarations

Annex A.7 lists the user-side capabilities that may be relevant. The main items are CCBS recall to compatible terminals, CCBS recall to terminals that have activated CCBS, call information retention, and the CCBS request retention option. For a reader, this is the part that shows which user-side functions must be declared as supported or not supported before testing starts.

The user section also lists protocol data unit components, parameters, and timer-related items tied to the CCBS procedures. In practice, this tells a tester which CCBS messages, results, and errors the implementation can send or receive.

Network-side capability declarations

Annex A.8 mirrors the user side for network implementations. It covers call information retention, CCBS request retention, CCBS recall behavior, and the check for identical calls option.

The network tables also identify the CCBS timers T-CCBS1 to T-CCBS7 and T-RETENTION. These timers matter because they define waiting and retention behavior during call completion and information retention procedures.

Links to related PICS proformas

Annex B is a requirements list that links this PICS to other proformas. It pulls in items from EN 300 403-3, EN 300 196-2, and EN 300 195-2, so a CCBS implementation also has to answer the related basic call, generic functional protocol, and supplementary service interaction questions where required.

That linkage matters in practice because CCBS does not stand alone. A supplier completing this PICS may also need to complete the base PICS forms for the underlying call control and supplementary service framework.

What terms does SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 define?

  • Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) - A statement from the supplier showing which capabilities of a protocol implementation are supported.
  • PICS proforma - The questionnaire form that is completed to create a PICS.
  • Implementation Under Test (IUT) - The specific implementation being assessed for conformance.
  • System Under Test (SUT) - The wider system that contains the IUT and is identified in the conformance record.
  • System Conformance Statement (SCS) - A document that summarizes which standards a system implements and claims conformance to.
  • static conformance review - A check that compares the completed PICS with the conformance requirements in the standard.
  • CCBS - Completion of Calls to Busy Subscriber, the supplementary service covered by the standard.
  • DSS1 - Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one, the signalling protocol used for the service.

Who uses SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005?

SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 is used by equipment suppliers, protocol implementers, and telecom operators that need to declare or check CCBS support. It is also used by conformance test laboratories and quality teams that review whether an implementation matches the protocol specification.

The document is relevant to both user-side and network-side ISDN implementations, including private network implementations where the user-side annex applies. In practice, these users complete the PICS, use it to select tests, and record which CCBS options, message components, and timers are implemented.

What changed in SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 from the previous edition?

Compared with the previous ETS 300 359-2, this version makes these changes:

  • conversion to EN layout;
  • replacement of references to ETS 300 102 with EN 300 403;
  • replacement of references to I-ETSs with EN 300 403;
  • substitution of non-specific references to basic standards where the intention is to refer to the latest version.

Which standards are used with SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005?

  • EN 300 359-1 - Gives the CCBS protocol specification that the PICS in this part refers to.
  • EN 300 403-1 - Defines the signalling network layer for circuit-mode basic call control.
  • EN 300 403-3 - Provides the PICS proforma for basic call control items used by Annex B.
  • EN 300 195-1 - Gives the protocol specification for supplementary service interactions.
  • EN 300 195-2 - Provides the PICS proforma for supplementary service interactions items used by Annex B.
  • EN 300 196-1 - Defines the generic functional protocol for the support of supplementary services.
  • EN 300 196-2 - Provides the PICS proforma for the generic functional protocol.
  • ISO/IEC 9646-1 - Supplies the general conformance testing framework and PICS concepts.
  • ISO/IEC 9646-7 - Gives the rules for implementation conformance statements and questionnaire-style proformas.
  • CCITT Recommendation I.130 - Provides the method for characterizing telecommunication services supported by ISDN.
  • ITU-T Recommendation I.411 - Gives ISDN user-network reference configurations.

What does the SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 document contain?

SIST EN 300 359-2 V1.2.4:2005 contains a completed framework for describing CCBS protocol support, not a protocol test suite. Annex A provides the blank questionnaire with identification fields, a global conformance statement, role selection, and detailed tables for user and network capabilities, parameters, timers, and call-related items.

Annex A also includes the facility information element components that are received and sent for CCBS procedures such as CCBSRequest, CCBSDeactivate, CCBSInterrogate, CCBSCall, CCBSStatusRequest, and the CCBS-T procedures. Annex B contains the cross-reference list that ties this CCBS PICS to related PICS proformas for basic call, generic functional protocol, and supplementary service interactions.

For conformance work, this document is used to record what the implementation supports before any static review or test selection begins. For product and system teams, it provides the exact structure needed to document support for CCBS on the user side or the network side.

Foreword
This European Standard (Telecommunications series) has been produced by ETSI Technical Committee Signalling
Protocols and Switching (SPS).
The present document is part 2 of a multi-part standard covering the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one
(DSS1) protocol specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Completion of Calls to Busy
Subscriber (CCBS) supplementary service, as described below:
Part 1: "Protocol specification";
Part 2: "Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification";
Part 3: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the user";
Part 4: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the user";
Part 5: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the network";
Part 6: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the network".
To evaluate conformance of a particular implementation, it is necessary to have a statement of which capabilities and
options have been implemented for a given Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol. Such a statement is called a
Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS).
The present version updates the references to the basic call specifications.

1 Scope
This second part of EN 300 359 is applicable to the stage three of the Completion of Calls to Busy Subscriber (CCBS)
supplementary service for the pan-European Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) as provided by European
public telecommunications operators at the T reference point or coincident S and T reference point (as defined in
ITU-T Recommendation I.411 [11]) by means of the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol.
Stage three identifies the protocol procedures and switching functions needed to support a telecommunications service
(see CCITT Recommendation I.130 [10]).
The present document provides the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma for the ISDN
DSS1 CCBS supplementary service protocol as specified in EN 300 359-1 [7] in compliance with the relevant
requirements and in accordance with the relevant guidance given in ISO/IEC 9646-7 [9].
The supplier of a protocol implementation which is claimed to conform to EN 300 359-1 [7] is required to complete a
copy of the PICS proforma provided in annex A of the present document and is required to provide the information
necessary to identify both the supplier and the implementation.
