SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 is the Slovenian adoption of EN 300 093-1 Version 1.2.4. It specifies the stage 3 Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) supplementary service, so implementers know how to prevent the caller’s ISDN number and subaddress from being presented to the called user. It applies at the T reference point or coincident S and T reference point, including use via a private ISDN at the T reference point.
What does SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 specify?
SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 specifies the stage 3 aspects of CLIR for public ISDN access using DSS1. In practice, that means protocol procedures, switching functions and message coding needed to support the service.
The document is organized into 14 clauses covering scope, references, definitions, descriptions, operational requirements, coding, state definitions, signalling procedures, interworking with private ISDNs, interaction with other networks, interaction with other supplementary services, timer values and SDL diagrams. It also has four informative annexes.
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Annex A | Signalling flows |
| Annex B | Terminal interchangeability between public and private ISDNs |
| Annex C | Changes with respect to the previous ETS 300 093-1 |
| Annex D | Bibliography |
The foreword places this part in a six-part CLIR series: Part 1 is this protocol specification, and Parts 2 to 6 cover conformance statements and test suites for the user and the network.
What are the key requirements of SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005?
The core requirement of SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 is that CLIR restricts presentation of the calling user’s ISDN number and subaddress to the called user. The service is carried in the basic call signalling, so implementers need to handle it together with ordinary call setup.
- Clause 5 says the originating network provides the destination network with the indication that the calling user’s number and subaddress are not to be presented. In practice, this is the privacy rule the network must carry through call handling.
- Clause 6.2 requires CLIR information to be inserted in the SETUP message as part of the basic call procedures. That is the point where terminals and networks exchange the service request.
- Clause 7 points coding of the calling party number information element to EN 300 403-1. This matters because CLIR depends on the correct use of the basic call numbering field.
- Clause 9.2.1 and 9.3.1 define how the presentation indicator is handled for per-call use and for permanent subscription. In practice, a terminal can request restriction or allowance per call, while the network applies the subscribed default for permanent mode.
- Clause 9.3.1 also says the originating network forwards the presentation indicator with the basic call request. That keeps the restriction status visible to the next network element.
- Clause 10 applies the same procedure set when the service is used through a private ISDN. This gives a common signalling approach across public and private access.
- Clause 11 addresses interaction with non-ISDN networks and allows the originating network, as an option, to suppress identifying information from being forwarded. That matters when the call leaves the ISDN environment.
- Clause 12 routes supplementary service interactions to EN 300 195-1. This prevents implementers from duplicating interaction rules in several places.
What terms does SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 define?
Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is the network type used for the service definitions and signalling rules in this standard.
Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) is the signalling system used at the user-network interface.
supplementary service is a service added to a basic telecommunications service, rather than a service on its own.
served user is the ISDN subscriber who has the CLIR restriction on outgoing calls.
called user is the party receiving the call on which CLIR is active.
ISDN number is a number that follows the E.164 numbering plan and structure.
subaddress is the additional addressing information defined by E.164.
Who uses SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005?
Network operators use SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 to implement CLIR in public ISDN services. Terminal and switching equipment vendors use it to make sure their products set and interpret the calling party number information element correctly.
Test laboratories use it together with the later parts of the series to check conformance. Engineers working on public ISDN, private ISDN interworking and supplementary service interaction use it to decide how CLIR behaves during call setup and routing.
What changed in SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 from the previous edition?
Annex C records three changes from the previous ETS 300 093-1:
- conversion to EN layout
- replacement of references to ETS 300 102 with EN 300 403
- substitution of non-specific references to basic standards with references intended to track the latest version
The foreword also says this version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
Which standards are used with SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005?
| Standard | What it contributes |
|---|---|
| CCITT Recommendation I.411 | ISDN user-network interface reference configurations |
| CCITT Recommendation I.130 | The three-stage method used to describe ISDN services |
| CCITT Recommendation I.112 | ISDN vocabulary |
| CCITT Recommendation E.164 | ISDN numbering plan and structure |
| EN 300 403-1 | Basic call control and calling party number coding |
| EN 300 195-1 | Interaction rules with other supplementary services |
| ETS 300 090 | CLIR service description and provision/withdrawal context |
| EN 300 092-1 | Related CLIP protocol handling and destination-side actions |
| CCITT Recommendation I.210 | Principles used to describe ISDN telecommunications services |
| CCITT Recommendation Z.100 | SDL notation for the dynamic description |
The foreword also names ETS 300 091 as the stage 2 companion part, while Parts 2 to 6 of the series cover conformance statements and test suites.
What does the SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 document contain?
SIST EN 300 093-1 V1.2.4:2005 contains the protocol description, operational rules and message handling for CLIR. Clause 9 gives the signalling procedures at the coincident S and T reference point, and clause 14 gives an SDL-based dynamic description with a flow for the originating network side.
Annex A provides signalling flow information, and Annex B explains terminal interchangeability between public and private ISDNs. Annex C records the change history against the previous edition, and Annex D lists bibliography items used by the standard.
The document is therefore useful for protocol design, implementation, interoperability checks and conformance testing.

Part 6: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the network".
In accordance with CCITT Recommendation I.130, the following three level structure is used to describe the
supplementary telecommunications services as provided by European public telecommunications operators under the
pan-European Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN):
- Stage 1: is an overall service description, from the user's standpoint;
- Stage 2: identifies the functional capabilities and information flows needed to support the service described in
stage 1; and
- Stage 3: defines the signalling system protocols and switching functions needed to implement the service
described in stage 1.
The present document details the stage three aspects (signalling system protocols and switching functions) needed to
support the Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) supplementary service. The stage one and stage two aspects
are detailed in ETS 300 090 and ETS 300 091, respectively.
The present version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
