SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 is the Slovenian adoption of the ETSI standard for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP) supplementary service on the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol. It specifies the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma for implementations that claim conformance to EN 300 092-1, so suppliers can state which CLIP capabilities, roles and parameters they support. The document is used for user and network implementations and for static conformance review.
What does SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 specify?
SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 specifies the PICS proforma for the stage three CLIP supplementary service in pan-European ISDN. It is the conformance-declaration part of the standard family, while EN 300 092-1 contains the protocol specification itself.
The scope ties the document to the T reference point, or coincident S and T reference point, and to support by means of DSS1. In practice, that means the standard is about how an implementation declares support for CLIP behaviour on the ISDN user-network interface.
The document is organized into these main parts:
| Annex | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Annex A | Normative PICS proforma, with completion instructions, identification fields, role tables, user tables and network tables |
| Annex B | Normative requirements list linking CLIP items to the basic call PICS and the supplementary service interactions PICS |
| Annex C | Informative changes with respect to the previous ETS 300 092-2 |
Clause 5 sets the conformance rules for the completed PICS. Clause 2 lists the supporting references that the proforma relies on, and Clauses 3 and 4 define the terms and abbreviations used in the tables.
What are the key requirements of SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005?
SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 is mainly a completion and declaration standard. Its key requirement is that the supplier of a claimed conforming implementation must complete the PICS proforma in Annex A and identify the implementation clearly enough for conformance checking.
Completing the PICS proforma
Clause 5 says a conforming PICS proforma must be technically equivalent to Annex A and must keep the same numbering and ordering of items. The completed PICS must describe an implementation that claims conformance to EN 300 092-1 and must identify both the supplier and the implementation.
Annex A.1 gives the practical completion rules. The Implementation Under Test (IUT), the System Under Test (SUT), the product supplier, the client and the contact person all have dedicated identification fields. That matters because conformance records must be traceable to a specific product build and support contact.
The global conformance statement in Annex A.5 is a key decision point. If the answer is Yes, the later tables are completed to show optional choices; if the answer is No, unsupported mandatory capabilities must be identified and explained.
How the user and network roles are separated
Annex A splits the questionnaire into Roles, User and Network sections. The Roles section is completed for all implementations, while the User section is only for user implementations, including private network implementations, and the Network section is only for network implementations.
This separation matters because CLIP behaves differently on the calling user side, the served user side, and the network side. The type-of-implementation table in Annex A.6 distinguishes support for CLIP itself, user requirements, network requirements and the relevant interface positions.
What capabilities and parameters are declared
Annex A asks whether the implementation supports the insertion of the calling user identity in the Calling party number information element. It also records whether complete or partial calling party number presentation is supported for the calling user.
On the network side, Annex A records originating network actions, the two Calling party number information element delivery option, and handling of the Type Of Number (TON), Numbering Plan Identification (NPI) and Presentation Indicator fields. It also covers completion of the number, the screening indicator, and interworking outcomes such as number not available due to interworking, presentation restricted and presentation allowed.
In practice, these tables let a supplier declare how the product handles the calling number and privacy-related presentation cases, not just whether CLIP is generally supported.
How Annex B links CLIP to other proformas
Annex B repeats selected items from the basic call PICS and the supplementary service interactions PICS that are needed for EN 300 092-1. For the user, this includes outgoing calls and inclusion of Calling party number in the SETUP PDU. For the network, Annex B notes that the basic call PICS adds no extra restrictions, but that CLIP interactions with other supplementary services still have to be declared.
This linkage matters because CLIP depends on the underlying basic call handling and on any other supplementary services already implemented in the system.
Annex A.7.4 and A.8.4 also treat the Calling party number information element parameters and values as a temporary table format linked to the basic call PICS. That tells implementers and testers to check the number structure carefully even where the underlying basic call proforma is being reused.
What terms does SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 define?
- Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS): a supplier statement that lists which capabilities an Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) implementation supports for a given protocol.
- PICS proforma: the questionnaire that is completed to produce a PICS.
- Implementation Under Test (IUT): the implementation being assessed for conformance.
- System Under Test (SUT): the system in which the IUT resides, including its hardware and operating system context.
- System Conformance Statement (SCS): a document that summarizes which standards a system implements and claims conformance to.
- Static conformance review: a comparison between the completed PICS and the static conformance requirements in the standard.
- Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP): the supplementary service that presents the calling party identity.
- Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1): the signalling protocol used by this standard for CLIP.
Who uses SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005?
SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 is used by suppliers of ISDN equipment and software that implement CLIP on the user side or the network side. It is also used by public telecommunications operators and network equipment vendors that need to describe network behaviour at the relevant reference points.
Test laboratories and conformance assessors use it to complete and review PICS documents and to support static conformance review. Quality managers and buyers use it to check whether a product declares the CLIP functions, calling-number handling and interaction behaviour they need.
What changed in SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 from the previous edition?
Annex C records these changes with respect to the previous ETS 300 092-2:
- conversion to EN layout;
- replacement of references to ETS 300 102 with EN 300 403;
- replacement of references to I-ETSs with EN 300 403;
- replacement of non-specific references to basic standards with references that point to the latest version.
The foreword also states that this version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
Which standards are used with SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005?
- EN 300 092-1 - gives the CLIP protocol specification that the PICS proforma refers to.
- EN 300 403-1 - provides the basic call control network layer protocol specification used in the related basic call items.
- EN 300 403-3 - provides the basic call PICS proforma used in Annex B.
- EN 300 195-1 - gives the supplementary service interactions protocol specification.
- EN 300 195-2 - gives the supplementary service interactions PICS proforma used in Annex B.
- ISO/IEC 9646-1 - provides the general conformance testing concepts and framework behind PICS use.
- ISO/IEC 9646-7 - gives the guidance for implementation conformance statements and the tabular PICS format.
- CCITT Recommendation I.130 - defines the way ISDN-supported services are characterized.
- ITU-T Recommendation I.411 - defines the ISDN user-network reference configurations used for the reference points in the scope.
What does the SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 document contain?
SIST EN 300 092-2 V1.2.4:2005 contains a questionnaire-style PICS proforma with identification fields, a global conformance statement, and tabulated support items for roles, user behaviour and network behaviour. The tables focus on Calling party number handling, including TON, NPI, presentation and screening-related items.
The document also contains completion instructions that explain how to fill in the PICS and how it relates to an SCS. Annex B provides a requirements list that maps CLIP-related items to the basic call and supplementary service interactions proformas. Annex C gives the revision changes relative to the previous ETS 300 092-2.

Foreword
This European Standard (Telecommunications series) has been produced by ETSI Technical Committee Signalling
Protocols and Switching (SPS).
The present document is part 2 of a multi-part standard covering the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one
(DSS1) protocol specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Calling Line Identification
Presentation (CLIP) supplementary service, as described below:
Part 1: "Protocol specification";
Part 2: "Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification";
Part 3: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the user";
Part 4: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the user";
Part 5: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the network";
Part 6: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the network".
To evaluate conformance of a particular implementation, it is necessary to have a statement of which capabilities and
options have been implemented for a given Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol. Such a statement is called a
Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS).
The present version updates the references to the basic call specifications.
