SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 is the Slovenian adoption of ETSI EN 300 130-2 Version 1.2.4. It specifies the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Malicious Call Identification (MCID) supplementary service on the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol. It is for suppliers, implementers and test teams that need to state, check and document conformance to EN 300 130-1.

What does SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 specify?

SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 defines the conformance-statement form for the ISDN DSS1 MCID supplementary service, not the protocol specification itself. It applies to stage three of MCID on the pan-European ISDN at the T reference point or coincident S and T reference point, and it tells the supplier of an implementation how to complete the PICS for EN 300 130-1.

The document is organized around a short main body plus three annexes. Annex A is the PICS proforma, Annex B is a requirements list for related base PICS proformas, and Annex C lists changes from the previous ETS 300 130-2.

AnnexWhat it covers
Annex A (normative)PICS proforma, including identification, roles, user and network capability tables, protocol data units, parameters, timers and call states
Annex B (normative)Requirements list that repeats selected items from the basic call, generic functional protocol and supplementary service interactions PICS proformas
Annex C (informative)Changes with respect to the previous ETS 300 130-2

What are the key requirements of SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005?

SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 is a conformance document, so its main requirement is to complete the PICS in a way that matches the annex A structure and the claims made against EN 300 130-1. In practice, this means the implementation record must be clear enough for static conformance review and for selecting relevant test cases.

Clause 5 - what a conforming PICS must do

Clause 5 says a PICS that conforms to this proforma specification shall be technically equivalent to Annex A and keep the same numbering and ordering of items. That matters because test labs and reviewers need a one-to-one match with the standard's questions and tables.

Clause 5 also says the PICS must describe an implementation that claims conformance to EN 300 130-1, follow the completion instructions in Annex A, and identify both the supplier and the implementation. In practice, the form is not just a checklist - it is part of the evidence package for conformance.

Annex A - how the PICS is structured

Annex A says the PICS proforma contains a Roles clause and then two parts: one for user implementations and one for network implementations. Each part is broken into major capabilities, subsidiary capabilities, protocol data unit support, protocol data unit parameters, timers and call states. This structure helps a supplier show exactly which side of the interface is implemented and which functions are supported.

Annex A also requires identification details for the Implementation Under Test (IUT), the System Under Test (SUT), the product supplier, the client and the PICS contact person. That matters because a conformance statement must be traceable to a specific product, version, system and contact point.

Annex A - how to answer the tables

Annex A uses a global statement of conformance and the common status and support markings from ISO/IEC 9646-7. The standard uses M, O, N/A and O.n in the status column, and Y or N in the support column. That makes each answer unambiguous for review and for automated test selection.

The reference column points back to EN 300 130-1, but Annex A says any additional information in EN 300 130-1 still has to be considered. In practice, the table reference is a guide to the relevant clause, not the whole technical picture.

Annex A - the role-based capability tables

For user implementations, Annex A asks about the procedures for requesting the MCID supplementary service and about protocol data units such as MCIDRequest invoke, return result and return error. For network implementations, it asks about handling an MCID request and, optionally, putting the response in a RELEASE COMPLETE message. These items show whether the implementation can originate, receive and respond to MCID signalling correctly.

Annex B - how MCID depends on related PICS proformas

Annex B repeats selected requirements from the basic call PICS proforma, the generic functional protocol PICS proforma and the supplementary service interactions PICS proforma. It is a cross-reference list that tells the user where the related answers belong in the base proformas rather than in this document.

For the user side, Annex B includes items such as incoming calls, the point-to-point transport mechanism, inclusion of FACILITY, and MCID interactions with other supplementary services. For the network side, it includes the same kind of dependencies plus the Facility parameter in RELEASE COMPLETE. In practice, this helps a supplier complete all linked conformance documents consistently.

What terms does SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 define?

  • Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) - A statement from the supplier that says which capabilities of an Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) implementation are implemented for a given protocol.
  • PICS proforma - A questionnaire-style document that is completed to become the PICS.
  • static conformance review - A review that compares the completed PICS with the static conformance requirements in the relevant standard.
  • Implementation Under Test (IUT) - The implementation whose conformance is being checked.
  • System Under Test (SUT) - The system in which the IUT resides.
  • System Conformance Statement (SCS) - A document that summarizes which standards are implemented and for which conformance is claimed.
  • Malicious Call Identification (MCID) - The ISDN supplementary service covered by this part of the standard.

Who uses SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005?

SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 is used by suppliers of MCID protocol implementations who need to declare conformance to EN 300 130-1. It is also used by test laboratories, conformance assessors and engineering teams that review whether an implementation supports the required user or network functions.

The standard is relevant to ISDN equipment and telecommunications organizations working with DSS1 supplementary services. It is especially useful when a project needs a formal PICS for a user implementation, a network implementation, or both.

What changed in SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 from the previous edition?

Annex C states four changes:

  • conversion to EN layout;
  • replacement of references to ETS 300 102 with EN 300 403;
  • replacement of references to I-ETSs with EN 300 403;
  • substitution of non-specific references to basic standards where the intention is to refer to the latest version.

What does the SIST EN 300 130-2 V1.2.4:2005 document contain?

The document contains a short main text, a foreword, definitions, abbreviations and a conformance clause, followed by three annexes. Annex A is a questionnaire-style proforma with tables for identification data, roles, capabilities, PDU support, parameters, timers and call states. Annex B gives the linked requirements for the basic call, generic functional protocol and supplementary service interactions PICS proformas, so a supplier can complete the related documents consistently.

It also includes instructions on how to mark status and support, how to relate the PICS to the SCS, and how to handle optional and non-supported items. Annex C summarizes the changes from the previous ETS version for users who need to see what was updated.

Foreword
This European Standard (Telecommunications series) has been produced by ETSI Technical Committee Signalling
Protocols and Switching (SPS).
The present document is part 2 of a multi-part standard covering the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one
(DSS1) protocol specification for the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Malicious Call Identification (MCID)
supplementary service, as described below:
Part 1: "Protocol specification";
Part 2: "Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma specification";
Part 3: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the user";
Part 4: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the user";
Part 5: "Test Suite Structure and Test Purposes (TSS&TP) specification for the network";
Part 6: "Abstract Test Suite (ATS) and partial Protocol Implementation eXtra Information for Testing (PIXIT)
proforma specification for the network".
To evaluate conformance of a particular implementation, it is necessary to have a statement of which capabilities and
options have been implemented for a given Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol. Such a statement is called a
Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS).
The present version updates the references to the basic call specifications.

1 Scope
This second part of EN 300 130 is applicable to the stage three of the Malicious Call Identification (MCID)
supplementary service for the pan-European Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) as provided by European
public telecommunications operators at the T reference point or coincident S and T reference point (as defined in
ITU-T Recommendation I.411 [11]) by means of the Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. one (DSS1) protocol.
Stage three identifies the protocol procedures and switching functions needed to support a telecommunications service
(see CCITT Recommendation I.130 [10]).
The present document provides the Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) proforma for the ISDN
DSS1 MCID supplementary service protocol as specified in EN 300 130-1 [2] in compliance with the relevant
requirements and in accordance with the relevant guidance given in ISO/IEC 9646-7 [9].
The supplier of a protocol implementation which is claimed to conform to EN 300 130-1 [2] is required to complete a
copy of the PICS proforma provided in annex A of the present document and is required to provide the information
necessary to identify both the supplier and the implementation.
