CEN/TC 133/WG 1 - Unwrought copper products

This document specifies the composition and property requirements for cathodes of two copper grades, designated Cu-CATH-1 (CR001A) and Cu-CATH-2 (CR002A).
Annex A (normative) describes methods for sampling cathodes for use in cases of dispute between the purchaser and the supplier. Annex B (informative) gives information on the relationships between electrical resistivity and conductivity of copper.

This European Standard specifies the composition, mechanical, electrical and physical properties for high conductivity copper drawing stock (wire rod) suitable for fabrication into wire by cold drawing, principally for the manufacture of electrical conductors. This European Standard covers drawing stock (wire rod), in nine grades of copper and nine silver-bearing copper grades. Normally, the cross-section is approximately circular, in a range of diameters from 6 mm.

This European Standard specifies the composition and physical properties of cast unwrought copper products (refinery shapes) in thirteen grades of copper and nine silver-bearing copper grades. The refinery shapes included are horizontally, vertically and continuously cast wire bars, cakes, billets and ingots. Wire bars, cakes and billets are intended for fabricating into wrought products; ingots are intended for alloying in wrought and cast copper alloys.
A table indicating the refinery shapes in which each copper grade is normally available is given in Annex A. Annex B gives information on the relationships between electrical resistivity and conductivity of copper.

This European Standard specifies a method for performing the spiral elongation test on high purity copper drawing stock conforming to EN 1977, grade Cu-ETP1 (CW003A). The method has been designed for testing high purity copper sampled at the drawing stock stage. It is not relevant for assessing the quality of copper wire selected at a later stage of processing.
