TC - Technical correction to 4.13.3

This European Standard specifies atomic spectroscopic methods (either AAS or AES) for the analysis of pewter alloy defined in EN 611-1. NOTE: This method is also suitable for inductively-coupled plasma emission spectrometry (ICP). It is written for use by experienced analysts familiar with atomic spectrometric techniques.

This Part of EN 611 specifies the requirements for the fabrication, sampling, analysis and marking of pewterware. It does not cover articles manufactured from materials other than pewter which have been coated or clad with pewter. Note: The requirements for pewter alloys are specified in EN 611-2.

This draft European Standard specifies the requirements for the chemical composition, surface condition, sampling, analysis, inspection documentation and marking for five grades of ingot tin. The grades of tin included in this draft European Standard are those which are traded internationally.

This Part of EN 611 specifies the chemical composition of pewter alloys to be used for the manufacture of pewterware. The specified compositions apply to the alloy in the form of ingots, sheets and blanks. This Part of prEN 611 also specifies the chemical composition of the solders to be used for the joining of: a) pewterware which may reasonably be expected to come into contact with foodstuffs; and b) pewterware for other purposes.
