CEN/TC 79/SC 3 - Facepieces

This European Standard is applicable to self-contained compressed air breathing apparatus designed as positive pressure breathing apparatus.  This European Standard specifies a thread connection, M 45 x 3, which may optionally be used for facepieces for positive pressure breathing apparatus.  This European Standard does not apply to negative pressure breathing apparatus, to closed-circuit breathing apparatus or to diving equipment.

This European Standard is applicable to centre threads for respiratory protective devices. This standard does not apply to diving equipment and to positive pressure demand breathing apparatus.

This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for full face masks for respiratory protective devices.  Full face masks for diving apparatus are not included in the scope of this European Standard.  Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.

This European Standard is applicable to standard threads for respiratory protective devices. This standard does not apply to diving equipment and to positive pressure demand breathing apparatus.

This European Standard specifies performance requirements, test methods and marking requirements for half masks (re-usable) without inhalation valves and with separable filters (designed for a maximum of single shift use) to protect against gases or gases and particles or particles only. It does not cover devices designed for use in circumstances where there is or might be an oxygen deficiency (oxygen less than 17 % by volume) or for escape purposes. Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.

It does not cover gas filtering half masks which do not have valves or are fitted only with exhalation valves. It does not cover devices designed for use in circumstances where there is or might be an oxygen deficiency (oxygen less than a volume fraction of 17 %).
Laboratory and practical performance tests are included for the assessment of compliance with the requirements.
