CEN/TC 337/WG 2 - Road service area maintenance equipment

This document defines the classification criteria of the road service area maintenance equipment described in the scope of EN 15436 1 and used for:
-   grass cutting and brush cutting;
-   mechanical plant cutting.
This equipment is mounted on self-propelled carrying vehicles, and is intended, on the one hand, for cutting and shredding grass and brushwood, and, on the other hand, for trimming trees, saplings and bushes in road service areas. This document is intended to be used also in conjunction with FprEN 15436 2.

This European Standard specifies the accuracy of the performance measurement system of road service area maintenance equipment described in the scope of CEN/TC 337 and used for:
-   grass-cutting and brush-cutting;
-   mechanical plant-cutting.
This equipment is mounted on self-propelled carrying vehicles and is designed to cut and shred grass, brushwood, trees, saplings and bushes in road service areas.
This European Standard does not cover the collection and transportation of shredded grass.

This standard applies to:
-   mowers;
and
-   mechanical brush cutters;
used by road maintenance services.
The standard provides harmonised expressions/characteristic parameters by means of which operators can specify the above-mentioned equipment's performance to suppliers.
The standard also describes procedures for testing delivered equipment's compliance with operator requirements.

This European Standard defines terms for road service area maintenance equipment described in the scope of CEN/TC 337, i.e.:
-   grass cutting, brushcutting;
-   mechanical cutting of plants.
This European Standard does not deal with the collection of plants or their transport.

- mechanical plant cutting.
