SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes general requirements, unless otherwise specified in the specific product specification, for ordering information, marking, and sampling for chemical analysis common to zinc and zinc alloy products and shall apply to Specifications B 6, B 69, B 86, B 240, B 327, B 418, B 750, B 792, B 793, B 833, B 852, B 860, B 892, B 894, B 897, B 907, and B 943 to the extent referenced therein.
1.2 Although this specification establishes general requirements, it does not restrict that, by agreement between customer and supplier, these requirements may be altered by a customer to suit individual need.
1.3 The chemical composition, physical and mechanical properties, and all other requirements not included in this specification shall be prescribed in the product specification.
1.4 Units The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard except where SI units only are specified. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

1.2 Zinc Alloys Z33525, Z33527, Z35533, and Z35545 are used primarily in the manufacture of pressure die castings. Zinc-Aluminum Alloys Z35638, Z35633, and Z35841 are used in the manufacture of both foundry and pressure die castings. These alloys are also fabricated into continuous cast bar stock used for prototyping and screw machine stock.

ABSTRACT
This specification establishes general requirements, unless otherwise specified in the specific product specification, for zinc and zinc alloy products. Final product (ingots, slabs, jumbos, etc.) shall conform to the chemical composition requirements prescribed in the applicable product specification. The determination of chemical composition shall be made in accordance with suitable spectrochemical or chemical methods. Methods of sampling for chemical analysis includes: (1) sampling during casting of ingots, slabs, blocks or jumbos, and wrought products, (2) sampling in the event of a dispute or if the alloy is at the customer’s plant, (3) sampling of zinc alloy ingots for routine testing, nominal quality, non-dispute situations, and (4) sampling of final product castings. Sampling may be done by sawing, milling, drilling, turning, or clipping. Color code requirements for the alloy are detailed.

Standard Specification for Zinc Alloys in Ingot Form for Slush Casting

ABSTRACT
This specification covers two commercial zinc alloys, namely: Slush Casting Alloy A (Z34510) and Slush Casting Alloy B (Z30500), in ingot form for remelting for the manufacture of castings. This slush casting alloys are used primarily for the manufacture of hollow castings such as lighting fixtures, lamp bases, and small statues. The alloys may be made by any approved process, shall be of uniform quality, and shall be free from dross, slag, or other harmful contamination. The ingot shall be reasonably free of surface corrosion and adhering foreign matter. Casting alloys in black/red and black/orange color codes shall conform to the chemical composition requirements prescribed for copper, aluminum, lead, cadmium, tin, iron, magnesium, and zinc. The requirements for chemical composition verification such as number of samples, methods of sampling, and method of chemical analysis are given.

Standard Specification for Lead and Lead Alloy Strip, Sheet, and Plate Products

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the standard requirements for lead and lead alloy strip, sheet, and plate products intended for use in chemical plants, sound attenuation, roofing, vibration dampening, flashing and weather stripping, waterproofing, and radiation shielding. The lead sheet, strip, or plate shall be manufactured by rolling or extruding the product from a lead work piece which may be prepared by conventional casting into a mold or by direct continuous casting. Chemical analysis shall be performed on the samples which shall be taken during pouring the casting prior to working or during subsequent processing, such as rolling or cutting. The material shall conform to the product analysis variation in the chemical composition specifications for antimony, arsenic, tin, copper, silver, bismuth, zinc, tellurium, nickel, iron, and lead. Tension and hardness tests shall also be conducted on the specimens which shall be taken in the direction of rolling from the material in the final condition of rolling and heat treatment or in the case of continuously cast sheet in the casting direction and as cast state. The lead products shall be uniform in quality and hardness, smooth, commercially straight and flat, and free of injurious imperfections such as pits, dents, scratches, laminations, grit, foreign matter, porosity, or waves that may affect the serviceability of material.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers lead sheet, strip, and plate of various alloys intended for use in chemical plants, sound attenuation, roofing, vibration dampening, flashing and weather stripping, waterproofing, and radiation shielding.

Standard Specification for Solder Metal

ABSTRACT
This specification covers solder metal alloys (also known as soft solders) used in non-electronic applications, including but not limited to, tin-lead, tin-antimony, tin-antimony-copper-silver, tin-antimony-copper-silver-nickel, tin-silver, tin-copper-silver, and lead-tin-silver, used for the purpose of joining together two or more metals at temperatures below their melting points. Included here are solders in the form of solid bars, ingots, powder and special forms, and in the form of solid and flux-core ribbons, wires, and solder pastes. Electronic grade solder alloys and fluxed and non-fluxed solid solders for electronic soldering applications are not taken into account here. Solder alloys shall adhere to chemical composition requirements specified for the following flux types: Types R, RMA, and RA, which are composed of Grade WW or WG gum rosin; Type OA, which is composed of water-soluble organic materials; Type OS, which is composed of water-insoluble organic materials; and Type IS, which is composed of inorganic saltsor acids. Solders shall also meet physical property requirements such as paste texture, powder mesh size, viscosity, solder pool, and dryness, and pass performance requirements such as chlorides and bromides test, copper mirror test, and visual inspection. Other properties to which the alloys should conform to are dimensions and unit weights, spread factor, and resistivity of water extract.
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers solder metal alloys (commonly known as soft solders) used in non-electronic applications, including but not limited to, tin-lead, tin-antimony, tin-antimony-copper-silver, tin-antimony-copper-silver-nickel, tin-silver, tin-copper-silver, and lead-tin-silver, used for the purpose of joining together two or more metals at temperatures below their melting points. Electronic grade solder alloys and fluxed and non-fluxed solid solders for electronic soldering applications are not covered by this specification as they are under the auspices of IPC – Association Connecting Electronic Industries.  
1.1.1 These solders include those alloys having a liquidus temperature not exceeding 800°F (430°C).  
1.1.2 This specification includes solders in the form of solid bars, ingots, powder and special forms, and in the form of solid and flux-core ribbon, wire, and solder paste.

Standard Specification for Refined Lead

ABSTRACT
This specification covers refined lead in pig, block, or hog forms. Lead shall be supplied in commercial standard forms or shapes requested by the purchaser in the following grades: low-bismuth low-silver pure lead, refined pure lead, pure lead, and chemical copper lead. All grades shall be manufactured by any smelting and refining process from ore or recycled materials to meet the specified chemical composition requirements. Chemical analysis samples shall be cleaned thoroughly to rid the surface of dirt or adhering foreign material either by sawing, drilling, or melting prior to sampling, and shall be selected either from the lot during casting, or from the final solidified cast product.
