SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
This guide sets forth minimum standard requirements for use in local codes and ordinances relating to fences/barriers separating pedestrian circulation and traffic areas from skate park and related venue enclosures to prevent collision, contain the skateboards and prevent falls into such in-ground venue areas.
This guide sets forth minimum standard requirements for use in local codes and ordinances relating to enclosing skate parks and preventing unfamiliar use of the facilities creating falls from hazards.
This guide does not have the effect of law, nor is it intended to supersede local codes and ordinances of a more restrictive nature.
Studies have been the basis for certain recommendations in this guide and will assist those who intend to provide protection against unfamiliar access by restricting access to children under the age of five years who have no training and others unfamiliar with the equipment and features in skateboards. This would include, but is not limited to, state and local governments, model code organizations, building code groups, and consumers. It is understood that the format will vary depending upon the specific use and local conditions.

5.1 The intended use of this practice is for 10- or 12-ft (3050 or 3660 mm) high chain-link fencing as complete enclosures around single or multiple tennis courts, or as backstops at either end of tennis courts.  
5.2 This practice is not intended for applications where fencing higher than 12 ft (3660 mm) is desired for a special application.

5.1 These test methods constitute a standard for obtaining data in research and development, quality control, acceptance and rejection under specifications, and for special purposes.

1.1 These test methods establish a recommended list from which suitable test methods shall be selected for the identification of physical property characteristics and comparison of the performance properties of synthetic turf systems or components for athletic and recreational uses, or both.  
1.2 Some of the test procedures are suitable only for the laboratory characterization of either components or the complete system; others are suitable for tests on installed sports fields; and some tests may be applied in both the laboratory and the field.  
1.3 The test procedures included in these test methods apply as a group to the description of synthetic turf playing surfaces.  
1.4 Test methods outlined herein cover system components as well as fully assembled synthetic turf systems. Most of the methods measure material and performance properties of turf components. Component properties are not intended to represent the performance of a fully assembled turf system. Component results provide data for quality control, specification compliance, and component performance used in product design.  
1.5 Reference to the methods for testing the synthetic turf playing surface and its components contained herein should state specifically the particular test or tests desired and not refer to this list of test methods as a whole.

1.3.1 Playground equipment that does not have an entry or an exit onto or into a wet deck, wading pool, swimming pool or aquatic recreation pool.  
1.3.2 Home playground or home pool equipment or play equipment as scoped in Consumer Safety Performance Specification F1148-21 and ANSI/NSPI-5.  
1.3.3 Waterslides as scoped in Practice F2376-22.  
1.3.4 Flotation devices used on water slides or in swimming pools.  
1.3.5 Swimming pools as specified by ANSI/NSPI-1 or ANSI/IAF-9.  
1.3.6 Products or facility elements specifically designed to provide access to and from pools for people with disabilities.  
1.3.7 Water rides such as log flumes, raft rides, inner tube rides, waterslides or other attractions where the participant sits in a vehicle or is physically propelled or moved by or with water.  
1.3.8 Sports equipment, fitness equipment, and diving equipment.  
1.4 Compliance:  
1.4.1 Where water is indirectly or directly added or applied to Consumer Safety Performance Specification F1487-21 play equipment, the equipment shall comply with this standard. Where a requirement for compliance to a section of the Consumer Safety Performance Specification F1487-21 standard is required by this standard, the section number is preceded with the standard's designation.  
1.4.2 Soft contained play structures with aquatic play components shall comply with Safety Performance Specification F1918-21 except as modified by this standard.  
1.4.3 Aquatic play components and composite play structures represented, as complying with this safety performance standard shall meet all applicable requirements specified herein. Anyone representing compliance with this standard shall keep such essential records as are necessary to document any claim that the requirements within this standard have been met.
