ABSTRACT
This safety specification establishes the performance requirements for adult portable bed rails, related products, and adult portable bedrail accessories, including requirements for resistance to entrapment, marking and adhered labels, instructional literature, and advertising. It is intended to minimize entrapment and strangulation hazards that are attributed to design components, whether these hazards arise from normal installation and use, reasonably foreseeable mis-installation/misuse, or changes to the stability of the attachment over time, or combinations thereof. This specification applies to adult portable bed rails that meet the definition of a medical device and are therefore under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and to adult portable bed rails that are not medical devices, and which therefore fall under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
SCOPE
1.1 This safety specification establishes performance requirements for adult portable bed rails, related products, and adult portable bedrail accessories, including requirements for resistance to entrapment, marking and adhered labels, instructional literature, and advertising.  
1.2 This standard is applicable to any such product (as defined below) that is not designed as part of the bed by the bed manufacturer, and is installed on, against, or adjacent to the side of an adult bed and is for use by adults to reduce the risk of falling from the bed, assist in repositioning in the bed, assist in transitioning into or out of the bed, or other similar purposes as stated by the manufacturer.  
1.3 This safety specification includes adult portable bed rails that meet the definition of a medical device and are therefore under the jurisdiction of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and adult portable bed rails that are not medical devices, and which therefore fall under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).2  
1.4 This safety specification does not cover guardrails or side rails intended for use on FDA regulated hospital beds, or portable rails for children which are included in Consumer Safety Specification F1821 for toddler beds, Consumer Safety Specification F2085 for portable bed rails for children, or IEC 60601-2-52 for medical beds.  
1.5 This safety specification is intended to minimize entrapment and strangulation hazards that are attributed to design components, whether these hazards arise from normal installation and use, reasonably foreseeable mis-installation/misuse, or changes to the stability of the attachment over time, or combinations thereof. Other hazards may exist (for example, falls) that are not within the scope of this specification. Such hazards will be the subject of additional standards.

SCOPE
1.1 This consumer safety specification establishes safety performance requirements, test methods, and labeling requirements to minimize the hazards to infants presented by swings as identified in the introduction.  
1.2 This consumer safety specification is intended to minimize the risk of injuries to infants resulting from normal use and reasonably foreseeable misuse or abuse of swings. It is not intended to address all incidents and injuries resulting from the interaction of other persons with the infant in the swing.  
1.3 This consumer safety specification covers products with a powered mechanism used for the purpose of providing a swinging or gliding seat in any direction relative to the frame (that is, front to back, side to side, arc, etc.) for an infant. The powered mechanism can be through batteries, AC adapter, wind-up mechanism, or other means. This specification does not cover products that are intended to provide sleeping accommodations for the occupant.

SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes performance requirements for the performance of flame mitigation devices (FMDs) installed in disposable and pre-filled liquid containers, intended for consumer use where the liquid flashpoint is below 60 ºC [140 ºF]. (See Appendix X1.)  
1.1.1 Uses of disposable and pre-filled flammable liquid containers include but are not limited to fuels, fire starters, and additives for internal combustion engines.  
1.1.2 An FMD that complies with this specification minimizes the potential of flame jetting or container rupture from occurring.  
1.1.3 Containers without a significant area reduction at the container opening are not covered because there is no hazard of a flame jet or container rupture because an internal pressure rise does not result from an internal ignition. (See X1.5.)  
1.2 This specification does not apply to the following containers:  
1.2.1 Containers greater than 20 L [5.3 gal] or smaller than 100 mL [3.4 oz] in volume.  
1.2.2 Containers intended for beverages.  
1.2.3 Portable fuel containers as defined in Specification F852/F852M.  
1.2.4 One-time use portable emergency fuel containers for use by consumers as defined in Specification F2874.  
1.2.5 Containers not intended to be open to ambient conditions such as those for liquefied petroleum gas.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers the nationally recognized requirements for the cautionary information to be placed on the labels of 4- to 6-gal (15- to 23-L) open-head plastic containers (buckets), which are straight-sided vessels designed to be carried by hand to transport liquids or solids. Such warning labels will help to ensure that proper information concerning methods of safer handling is presented to the consumer.

ABSTRACT
This consumer safety specification covers the requirements and test methods to promote safe use of infant and infant/toddler rockers by both occupants and caregivers. It is intended to minimize the risk of injury or death associated with a child’s use of an infant or infant/toddler rocker. The specific hazards addressed by this specification are product disassembly/collapse, stability, and falls from elevated surfaces. Intended occupants for infant rockers are infants who have not developed the ability to sit up unassisted (approximately 0-6 months of age), and infant/toddler rockers with an extended use with occupants until toddler age (approximately 2.5 years of age). Both infant and infant/toddler rockers include a restraint system. This specification does not address positions or modes on products that recline to 10 degrees or less above the horizontal or are intended primarily for sleeping. Also excluded from this specification are rockers intended for toddler only use without a restraint system, hand-held infant carriers or inclined sleep products that have the ability to rock or have a rocking mode. Test methods include seat angles test and cover single action release mechanisms, restraint system, stability, static slip resistance, structural integrity, disassembly/collapse, toy bar attachment integrity, permanency of labels and warnings, and protective components. Requirements for marking and labeling are also covered by this specification.

ABSTRACT
This specification covers performance requirements to ensure the use of safety glass when employed as an unenclosed horizontal surface under 44 in. (1118 mm) in height in a desk or table. It is intended to minimize the likelihood of serious cutting and piercing injuries that may occur due to the breakage of glass used as a horizontal surface in desks and dining, coffee, end, display, mobile, outdoor, and other types of tables. Glass shall be laminated safety glass or tempered safety glass that complies with the following: performance criteria of ANSI Z97.1-2009 and the use of monolithic annealed, monolithic chemically strengthened or monolithic wired glass shall not be permitted with the exception of glass fully-supported by and bonded to a non-glass material and glass surfaces incorporating or constituting display screens.

1.2 Motorized partitions are used to provide flexibility in the size of spaces typically used for meetings, sports, recreational areas, schools, or social functions where children are often present.  
1.3 Motorized partitions include a motor to direct the opening and closing of the partition and are operated by trained individuals who control the on/off mechanism and opening and closing movement of the partition.  
1.4 The partition is made up of a series of rigid panels that move along a track.  
1.5 This specification does not include motorized curtains, elevator or garage doors, or non-motorized partitions.

SCOPE
1.1 This specification2 relates to possible hazards that may not be recognized readily by the public and that may be encountered in the normal use for which a toy is intended or after reasonably foreseeable abuse. It does not purport to cover every conceivable hazard of a particular toy. This specification does not cover product performance or quality, except as related to safety. Except for the labeling requirements pointing out the functional hazards and age range for which the toy is intended, this specification has no requirements for those aspects of a toy that present an inherent and recognized hazard as part of the function of the toy. Such an example is a sharp point necessary for the function of a needle. The needle is an inherent hazard that is well understood by the purchaser of a toy sewing kit, and this hazard is communicated to the user as part of the normal educational process.  
1.2 On the other hand, while a riding toy has inherent hazards associated with its use (for example, falling off onto the sidewalk), the possible hazards associated with its construction (sharp edges, exposed mechanisms, etc.) will be minimized by the application of this specification.

SCOPE
1.1 This consumer safety specification establishes performance requirements, test methods and marking requirements to promote safe use of recreational powered scooters and pocket bikes intended for use by children age eight to twelve years, and adolescents age thirteen and above. This consumer safety specification is intended to minimize the risk of injury to an occupant from the normal use and reasonably foreseeable misuse of these e-mobility products.  
1.2 For purposes of definition, a recreational powered scooter is a battery-powered motorized recreational vehicle that has two or more wheels, a low platform, a vertical element for the user to grasp, and a method of steering. Recreational powered scooters for children and adolescents are limited to speeds of 16 km/h (10 mph) or less for children age eight to twelve years, and adolescents age thirteen and above for fast-moving products capable of achieving speeds of 32 km/h (20 mph).  
1.3 For purposes of definition, a pocket bike is a motorized two-wheel vehicle designed for a single occupant in the seated position typically designed to look like a motorcycle but scaled down to one quarter to one half the size of a typical motorcycle and not intended for use on public roads. SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
5.1 These test methods establish standard procedures designed for evaluating the performance wind safety and durability characteristics of MUs.  
5.2 These test methods are suitable for both end users and manufacturers to evaluate performance characteristics of MUs and base mounting components.  
5.2.1 End users may use these test methods to determine how well MUs and base components meet their particular application and conditions of use.  
5.2.2 Manufacturers of MUs and base mounting components may use these test methods to determine the wind performance characteristics in existing or proposed designs.  
5.3 Procedure A is an evaluation of MU structural integrity (pole, frame, canopy, and base components) by subjecting the MU to a uniform wind generated by a wind tunnel. Procedure B is an evaluation of MU and base component durability by subjecting the MU to a uniform wind generated by a wind tunnel for a fixed period of time. Each procedure is used to rate MU and base stanchion performance using the Beaufort Scale for users to be able to correlate the wind speed safety and durability determined in the testing to visual and subjective observation of the area of uses of the MU.  
5.4 Results from use of these test methods on one type of MU and base components are not comparable to other test results on a different MU due to differences in MU materials and designs used for poles, frames, canopies, vents, and hubs as well as base weights, shapes, and holding mechanisms.  
5.5 These test methods are not intended to assess cleaning or other weather stress resulting from wear and tear in an actual use environment.  
5.6 End users and manufacturers of MU and base components should consider these test methods to be minimum procedures for evaluating MU and base component wind safety and durability characteristics as a wind tunnel procedure is considered to produce the most accurate wind pressures of any method according to ASCE/SEI 7-10 Wind Tunnel Procedure. SCOPE
1.1 These test methods are intended for evaluating market umbrellas (MUs) to determine the suitability of the MU in a use environment on the basis of wind safety and durability.  
1.1.1 Procedure A is a safety scenario intended to test the structural strength of the MU to a uniform wind force generated by a wind tunnel.  
1.1.2 Procedure B is a wind durability scenario intended to determine the ability of the MU to perform in a high wind weather environment for a sustained period.  
1.1.3 The performance of the MU is then rated using the Beaufort Scale, as shown in Annex A1, to communicate the safety and durability performance of the MU.

SCOPE
1.1 This specification establishes performance requirements for flame mitigation devices (FMDs) in portable fuel containers (PFCs) for gasoline, kerosene, and diesel fuels intended for reuse by the consumer.  
1.2 A flame mitigation device in gasoline (red), diesel (yellow), and kerosene (blue) PFCs protects the container openings from possible propagation of a flame into a flammable fuel-air mixture within the container. Formation of a flammable fuel-air mixture in the container can occur in special circumstances associated with cold ambient conditions and low liquid levels in the container. Delineations of those circumstances and conditions have been described in published reports, for example, Gardiner et al, 2010 (1),2 and papers, for example, Elias et al, 2013 (2), including research sponsored and overseen by the ASTM F15.10 Technical Committee.  
1.3 This specification does not address the hazard of injury or death caused by ignition of vapors external to the PFC when the fuel in the PFC is poured onto or near to a fire or other ignition source causing these external vapors to ignite or explode. An FMD does not prevent hazards associated with misuse of the PFC resulting in external vapor ignition.  
1.4 The flame mitigation device is chemically conditioned by exposure to representative fuel surrogates CE25a and CE85a fuel and other expected conditions prior to the tests.  
1.5 The flame mitigation device is mechanically conditioned by repeated insertions and removal of a fuel refueling spout prior to the tests.  
1.6 The first test method establishes that the flame mitigation device can effectively prevent flame propagation into a flammable butane-air mixture inside the portable fuel container. The butane-air mixture is a controlled and repeatable proxy for the more variable fuel vapor-air mixture in the container.  
1.7 The second test method establishes that the flame mitigation device is permitting adequate flow rates of fuel.

SIGNIFICANCE AND USE
4.1 This guide is intended to apply in conjunction with applicable end-product specific performance or design standard requirements to address the overall system safety of a connected consumer product. Designers and manufacturers of a connected consumer product, with assistance from conformity assessment bodies, or others, as deemed desirable, should identify applicable and relevant product standards. They should assess and document if or how connectivity potentially affects the ability of such products to meet overall product-safety requirements, as well as conflicts or requirements, if any, that may or should not be applicable to the connected consumer product. This guide recognizes that the overall system safety of the connected consumer product is the primary objective. Property damage, including non-functionality of the connected consumer product, is only included to the extent that such property damage poses a risk of personal injury. Data security beyond the extent necessary to ensure system safety, or privacy-related issues, are not addressed in this guide although measures to address the protection of personal information may help mitigate connected consumer product safety issues.  
4.2 This guide provides guidelines for:

4.2.2 Software, firmware, and configuration risk management designed to ensure compliance with an end product safety standard and to prevent the creation of an unanticipated hazard from the connected consumer product; and

SCOPE
1.1 This guide provides guidance for connected consumer products, as defined in 1.1.1, as it relates to physical product safety hazards created by virtue of their connectivity. It applies to connected products that need testing and evaluation to prevent cybersecurity vulnerabilities and weaknesses that could compromise the safety-related performance of the product, create a physical safety hazard in the product or its operation, or result in a noncompliance to the underlying end product safety standard.
